I feel equally as frustrated.
I had got my hopes up that the increased threshold would apply to all.
I am a FTB but my partner is not and, as such, we are going to lose out.
Very disappointing!Since September 2011 - personal training session, gardening tool

Due to exchange tomorrow and complete on the 20th april.
It may be insane electioneering but its saved me £2400
edit
Sorry if this is a bit insensitive to those who've missed out, now I feel like a d"ck0 -
Not at all!
Its great that loads of people will benefit.
Its just a shame for those of us who will miss out as they have a partner who is not a ftb!Since September 2011 - personal training session, gardening tool

Nomnomnom.......i feel sick :rotfl::rotfl:My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to sayIgnore......check!0 -
Hi!
Does anybody know if you're still exempt if you've already exchanged? I'm buying a new build which won't be ready to complete until September...
Thanks!0 -

OK as you don't pay it until completion.0 -
This is great news for me!! I'm a FTB with upper limit of 250k. I think they should have done something about the over 250k mark as well though, so now on 250k you pay £0, at 250,001 you pay £7,500, that really is a bit silly.
I'm hoping that this might bring some properties down in a price a bit. I've been looking for the past 6 months for a property in London and the market is dire at the moment - there's just nothing doing on my budget. Maybe some sellers might bring their price down a wee bit if it's going to attract a FTB?0 -
I like the HMRC bit: “have not previously purchased such an interest or its equivalent anywhere in the world…”
So it’s not just UK ownership. Even more so then, it begs the question of how would this ever be established?0 -
Thanks for the links cannon fodder. Word has filtered down from on high in our company that there is expected to be a certain amount of self regulation. Hmmmm. Really don't understand how they will know if people have previously owned property in other countries! I also don't understand why they couldn't have just made this simple? Why not just bring the £175k threshold back for every type of buyer?Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0
