Not a chance in hell that they will change the thresholds.

In fact.....I will eat my shiny suit if they change it ;):D
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

Not impossible. But unlikely - if they had wanted to do that, they would have extended the previous arrangement.

They'd get pillioried for obvious electioneering, not to mention being totally incompetant and disorganised, having put it down only two months ago...

I'm sure they have other pre-election bribes in the briefcase that will cost money, and they have very little to play with.

Very true, people that completed in jan onwards would not be very happy if he brought it back down 3 months later.

  • According to many sources the stamp duty rates are likely to change in the budget today!? Better get the knife and fork out then? :)

Does anyone know when this is likely to kick-in please as we're about to buy a house? :D

Wait for the budget. Its only a couple of hours from being clarified.
  • It looks as if I'm going have to eat my words :rotfl:

Rumours are that Stamp Duty is going to only kick in on transactions over £250,000!

    Insanity and electioneering.
  • I think it will just be for FTB's though
