I agree about the two Morphs fighting .... doesn't give a good image I don't think.
Plus, I would be inclined NOT to advertise the fact that the site isn't moderated ... it's more or less saying, "hey, come post what you will ... until you get reported you can say whatever you want because nobody's going to swoop on you and pull you up for it" ....
I totally agree, it is inviting spam (I know it currently says it, and is not new). There is no need to advertise it. There is also the ambiguity of the word 'moderated' in the context of the Internet and in particular forums.0 -

I wouldn't bother saying anything about not being moderated ... people will assume the site is and that's a good thing if it deters people from acting the goat.
I see your points there, but the team has to cover their backs in this litigious day and age, eg if something dangerous is posted, then they can say, "We are clear in letting people know that we're not moderated, so it takes us a bit longer to get inappropriate material removed". Whereas, otherwise people could say, "Where are your moderators?" and then when told there are none, "Well, you should have said that." Some people expect to be spoonfed.0 -

Bigger 'unmoderated' forum sites manage just fine. It just needs to be explained elsewhere, for example, in the email you receive when you join which you must read in order to click a link to activate your account, and of course, in the rules elsewhere on the site.0 -
Maybe, Robt, but my experiences of all sorts of forums, mostly moderated, are different from that. Some of the things I have seen posted here are what I would call dangerous both from a legal standpoint and from a moral one, and yes of course I reported them to abuse...despite the previous header saying that these forums are unmoderated, though, I have seen people posting about the "mods" so I do think you're right and that it should be made clearer that this place is unmoderated eg as you suggested that it is clearly in there as you sign up and confirm/activate your account.0

What should go in the Forum Help tab?
I think that the thread by the forum member 'sra' contains so much useful information, it would be an excellent addition for your Forum Help tab;):Unofficial A-Z (Look here first)

Yes it has to explain clearly that the forums are "unmoderated" Not sure what bigger unmoderated forums don't have this clearly displayed and also has as large a public profile as Martin and MSE in general
I like it - I'm torn over the fighting morphs... I sorta like 'em... but not sure they give the right image... then again... I can't say that showing a bowing and curtesying (sp?) pair of morphs will be as obvious? hmmmmDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
