Packed Lunch for work

At work we have no microwave, toaster or kettle and the canteen charge for hot water! We are not even given a fridge to keep our lunches cool. Plus if I work a 12 - 8 shift they are not even open when I come to have my break. I do not own a thermos and cannot afford one until I get paid at the end of the month. I have been having sandwiches, pasta salads and couscous and am getting pretty bored of these for lunch, any ideas?0

How about making up a load of potato salad or maybe a cold omelette? Sometimes you can get quiche's from the reduced section too in the supermarket.0 -
can you ask you work to provide you with a fridge/kettle as in an 8 hour shift there are no facilities to prepare/make food or a hot drink as the canteen is not open. You could even cost this out for them, ie we would like xyz because abc, it will cost £100 for fridge, £30 for microwave, £10 kettle etc but will improve morale, etc etc etc
as for lunches the above threads may help but I dont really have any other suggestions Im afraid, I tend to have pasta salads, potatoe salads, quiche, etc etc0 -
Bachelory savory rice - put it in a flask cover with boiling water and by lunchtime its cooked - no cooking required!
I have read you can do this with their pasta and sauce too but havent tried it yet - you would have to stir it lot when you made it
The rice is nearl always on offer £2 for 4 the other day in sainsburys - 50p for a big lunch bargain!DMP 2021-2024: £30,668 £0 🥳

Hi, was wondering if you could suggest some cheap nice pack lunch ideas for work? I have access to a fridge and microwave and kettle but no toaster (not allowed due to fire alarm system). I get bored with sandwiches and often end up in the canteen as I like a hot meal
I don't mind batch cooking at weekends but am unsure what works well when re heated in the microwave, so any tips and suggestions would be great.
Thanks:)0 -

I have to make meals for my dh to take to work each day and some things work better than others.
Soup with some nice wheaten bread.
Anything made in the SC with a sauce, eg chicken and green lentil stew.
Pasta with a sauce but with a good big slosh of the pasta cooking water added so it is nice and loose and not a big sticky lump when you re-heat.
Pasta with tin of condensed mushroom soup stirred through with parmesan.
Pasta with rich tomato and (cut up) sausage sauce with black olives and cherry tomatoes.
Lasagne and jacket potato ( pre-cook the spud in the microwave so it is almost done, then just pop it in with the lasagne when it is heating up for a couple of minutes).Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D
