oh yes even with baked beans when they are cold they delish. what you could always do if your unsure is make them say on a friday night and then have them on saturday for lunch instead of getting to work , you not liking them and either a) bein hungary or b) having to then buy lunch cause your starving.0

I've started making batches of soup and freezing in individual portion size. In the morning I just lift one from the freezer and heat up at work at lunch time, although from your 2nd post it does sound as though you dont have acess to microwave. I started doing soup as I was fed up with sandwiches everyday and homemade soup can be really filling.0

Thanks - no there is no microwave and i need something more substantial than soup as i work a 12 hour day0 -
What about wraps, as a change from sandwiches? I put in chicken, mayo or chilli sauce, and lettuce and spring/red onion, and take a couple of tomatoes to accompany it. One of these is quite filling and makes two wraps. I also take yoghurt with fruit (home made) plus a separate piece of fruit. This is plenty, though I do have fruit or cereal bar for a snack twice a day too.
Other days I take soup (home made), pasta or salad. I think the secret is in varying the menu otherwise it does become quite boring.
If there is a toaster at work, you could make toasted sandwiches using toaster bags (which are lovely on a cold day).somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

get your wife:rotfl: to get you a wide necked thermos flask and you could have a hot stew or curry or similarJust call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -

I second this, its a wonderful option.
I recently bounced my trusty wide-necked flask, and am missing it dreadfully. Its soooo useful. Generally you just nuke the food til piping hot on a morning, and then put it in the flask til lunchtime, it'll still take the skin off the roof of your mouth if you're not careful!! Here's some ideas:
Leftover brown beef stew (take a roll for dunking)
Hot jacket potatoes (similar to the previous post, but you can have them hot)
Tuscan bean casserole (recipes here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1224891&page=5&highlight=tuscan+bean+stew [sorry, I'm not good at links])
Thick minestrone and rolls
I even put pasta bake (made like lasagne but penne tossed in ragu instead of layered) in sometimes. Essentially, if its a one-pot meal at home, you can take it in a flask
They really are a god-send on a construction site (I spent a year on one as a visiting professional person, and the cold was dreadful!)0 -
take a flask or substantial soup eg lentil and tomato, and a big chunk of bread
I sometimes make a batch of pasties and then freeze them all and take out one a day for work...easyAugust grocery challenge: £50
Spent so far: £37.40 :A0 -
