Although, since we have no microwave i couldn't take it to work which is a bummer, i can only do packet soups. :(

I have a flask, in the morning I heat the soup up and bung it in the flask.

Thanks for the soup recipe, i'll make it at the weekend :D

I bought a travel mug which is like a flask so i could drink tea on the way to work but it isn't leakproof so my car's carpet got it today grrr.

I saw a flask for £2.99 in home bargains the other day so i'll have to invest in one next time i'm in that area.

I am going to try the cous cous definitely, maybe tomorrow, i've already made my sandwiches though so i might not get as far as cous cous, i only have a short lunch break :D

    Hi BeenieCat,

I'll second the idea of a food flask...it means you can really use up leftovers and have a warm lunch to boot.

I've added your thread into the main thread on lunches for work where you should find loads of ideas to help. This thread may give you some ideas for pasta based lunches.

I have managed to get OH excited about sandwiches again by buying a couple of jars of expensive pickle/chutney. Ok, may not seem very MS but he was starting to get so bored and would often 'forget' or 'not have time to make them' and end up buying lunch at work instead. Pickle was 2.20 for a smallish jar which is probably what he would spend on lunch anyway but it should last for quite a while. The place I got them from had a few different varieties so I should be able to keep his sandwiches varied for a while!
  • cheese n pickle is yummy
also turkey n pickle yummy too

I buy 5 tins of soup every weekend and take them in to work on monday morning, costs me around £3 a week depending on offers etc and you never get bored because there are so many flavours, its quick, easy and filling! If I do ever fancy a change I get a boots meal deal but only if I have the points so I don't have to spend any money!

I take cous cous to work with me, just put it in a tupperware (or bowl) and cover in boiling water, cover for 3-4 mins and stir, delicious! The Ainsley Harriot ones are fabby and on offer at the moment in Asda 2 for £1. Each packet has 2 servings so 4 days out of it for £1. I take some salad and a yogurt in too.

I agree about Ainsley's cous cous, it is scrummy. Iceland are doing a three portion pack for £1 at the moment.

  • I really need to cut back on my lunchtime spends - a sandwich each day in the staff canteen is consting too much.

I often try to take lunch to work but find it really dull or costing as much as buying from work.

What can i take to work?

Im thinking maybe pasta - whenever i do it though its really dull - ie pasta, sweetcorn, tomatoe, cucumber, bits of leftover meat etc with mayo

Im really strugling and all ideas welcome. BTW has to take only a few minutes to prepare otherwise i know i wont bother doing it

at the mo my hubby loves crackers, cheese and couple pickled onions. i vary ti by using diff cheeses , slices of meat , pack of crisps, apple.

also do you have a microwave ? you could take a cooked one with you and just re-heat it . add baked beans, cheese, coleslaw, tuna, well any topping. or how about cooking jacket spuds at home spoocing out the middle. mix middle with cheese , ham , spring onions ( anything you like) add back to the skin and bake then take to work cold. they are devine.

take a sandwich toaster with you and make toastie sandwiches. when hubby does this he take the buttered bread and then in a pot i will have put slices of cheese, chopped onion, ham and he just has to asemble it.

The middle one sounds an option - are they nice cold then - even beans etc??

Edit - i also need to get my wife trained better to make these things up for me - sounds devine!
