I called 07836 191191 (Vodafone CS) once from a T-Mob phone as I didn't want to pay 08xx rates. They charged me 25p/min. I called them and I refused to come off the phone until I was refunded. Which I was. They agreed that it's a standard prefix.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

Next time try explaining these idiots that 'inclusive' is not a synonym of 'free' and that you are their pay monthly customer paying for their 'service', not getting it for free.

The Lyca network has a particularly high rate, this is because their business model is to encourage international calls, not ones to other mobile networks, as such their charge to other networks to connect is quite high, so they react by either charging a high cost to call it, or refuse connections entirely whilst negotiations take place.

If this were true then all of the other networks would also refuse to include LYCA mobile in thier inclusive minutes. But, in reality, ONLY T-Mobile exclude calls to LYCA mobile.

This is all a continuation of a dispute T-moble had with LYCA mobile in the Netherlands. The story is on T-mobiles own chat forum and they haven't removed it.

"The situation is that basically, in the Netherlands, Lycamobile used to be a MVNO (virtual network in the same way Virgin is an MVNO hopping on the back of T-Mobile in the UK) of T-Mobile but has moved over to Vodafone. T-Mobile also were fined in court for not allowing bulk migration over to Vodafone. In retaliation, in all countries T-Mobile are involved in, they blocked calls to these numbers. When OFCOM and their counterparts in other countries got involved and said you can't do that, they connected calls but stopped calls coming out of your allowance so these TM customers could get their friends to move away from Lyca because of the costs."

It's all very dirty. T_Mobile are doing themselves sooooo much damage. I feel sorry for Orange in the upcoming merger.

Guys, I am appalled to read this thread. I just got a T-mobile contract on the Samsung Galaxy s2 phone through phones4u today as it was the cheapest deal on this great phone. £99 for the handset and £20.43 pm (24 months) for 300 min, 300 texts and 500MB data. But having now read the bizarre T&Cs by T-mobile which pretty much mean that any number can potentially be chargeable, I am having thoughts of cancelling the contract in the 7 day cool-off period that I have starting today. I dread being in a 24 month contract where I have to be fearful of every call I make being deemed as chargeable.

    T-mobile, are you listening?
  • called T-mobile and got a whole *60p* credited towards next month's bill. That was two <1min calls and a text message, yes TM are charging 25ppm to Lyca.

Is there any way to flag this up before you dial. There are so many numbers inlcuded in their exclusion list, I won't remember all those that aren't UK!

I once checked my bills with T-Mobile and to my surprise was charged 145£ for calling Lycamobile. The charge went up but T-Mobile never alerted me to what's going on and kept silent like big corporate CROOKS.

I called T-Mobile, a lady called Nora told of 50£ discount only and upon my insistence she said they have to pay bills too as if she was the owner to T-Mobile. So I hanged that damn phone.

A week later, I called the disconnection team to stop my service by T-Mobile. The told to be nice guy offers to waive the charges and reduce my monthly payment from 15 to 7.5£. I stuck to principles and said @ hiya Hell with T-Mobile and gimme my PAC code.' Compared to Nora his job was to keep customers so that Nora type person can rob them later. Hell got my PAC code.

Next day, they called to convince me to stay and my response was' I wont stay T-Mobile even for 0£/month to keep sanity and principles'. They probably don't care having million customers, but I wanted to leave my mark and expose the Crooks. Game ended and they DDed 109£ from account. I don;t care, but happy to be no longer in touch with NORA-a T-Mobile Customer Service Agent Somewhere.

So, watch for your deals with T-Mobile. Now I am on 3, and they don't charge me for calling Lyca..

I just received my T-Mobile bill (on Flext 40) to discover I've been charged for calls and texts to a UK 07404 Lycamobile number.

The calls are (misleadingly) described as "international" though I'm being charged 10p per text and 20p per minute for calls.

As far as I'm concerned no UK mobile network is excluded from the allowance. Googling around suggests they've had some kind of dispute with Lycamobile.

Has anyone else experienced this? Haven't had a chance to call them yet.
  • It sounds that you were very lucky what can we do tied to T-Mobile with a 24 month contract? I noticed this issue from my very first bill, I either pay it or I get a £310 cancellation fee plus debt collection charges. I have no phone for 1 week now how am I supposed to complain to CISAS, if I have to wait for 8 weeks? I still do not understand how these people are not in jail? How can these companies operate in this manner?

Is it possible to port your number to a LYCA mobile if it is it will be impossible to ever know your dialing a LYCA mobile number.
