Thanks niccatw and Solvent, it means alot.

Last Wednesday my Mother phoned and told me my Father (64) had been diagnosed with advanced Prostate cancer, I'm devastated. This was only discovered due a blood test the GP recommended as he hadn't seen a GP for years. Its knocked me for 6 and my Father is putting a brave face on, but I think it has shocked him, he has had no sign of illness, and the nurse who did the physical check on him, said she couldn't feel anything abnormal. He is seeing a consultant at the hospital this week to discuss whether treatment would help.

    Life is so unfair....

Aww honey... there are no words. No wonder you have been in hiding. That is such a huge shock for a family to absorb. Naturally you will be devastated. I really pray that the consultant can give your father some positive news and that you and your family remain strong for one another. Big hugs - though they hardly seem adequate. I will be thinking of you and your family honey xxxx

Thanks niccatw for your kind words. Very much appreciated.

I'm definately going to try and get some sleep, I couldn't even win a game of scrabble earlier with my 11 year old son, my brain simply isn't working due to lack of sleep. I have Tesco coming again tomorrow, they delivered today but I forgot half the stuff I needed, its a good job I found a free delivery code for tomorrows delivery.

    A wee dram may help.

    Sleep well.

    BUMP from page 2

Good morning everyone - I was up early today (unusual for me !!) as we were at the docs at 8.30 - all OK though

Washer - you need somewhere for a release of all those pent up feelings - it is no good struggling with them yourself - it may just be too much to bear - so feel free to keep us updated and as everyone has said, we will at least support you "hugs"

Back to some eBaying for me today - but will check in later

P.S. Niddy - loved the troll pic    scary - we don't want any real ones

P.P.S. - and it is wet and miserable here too - but better than the snow in some areas - Nic are you buried in it up there

    hi washer
i only looked on this thread to find out what the hell a troll was and after reading over 500 posts i came across your one about your dad i know how you feel as my dad went through the same in 2004 he also had advanced prostate cancer he also had no signs only through a p.s.a test. i just want to let you know that prostate caner is one of the slowest growing cancers there is my dad had his prostate out in 2005 after 6 weeks of radio therapy every day he is fine, not totally out of the woods yet but he is on the mend and goes the gym everyday lol. i hope this gives you a bit of peace of mind as i think the word cancer itself scares alot of people. i hope your dad will be ok and i will carry on my quest on finding out what is a troll :)
