Ooo Tixy - I love that colour! I wish my kitchen was big enough to get away with it! I think I'd need to go for a fancy glass splash back in that colour and keep the rest neutral! Oh, now I'm going to cry everytime I go into my kitchen today :D.

Washer and Carol - I'm glad you both happened to be on around the same time. It helps to know how other people coped when going through a similar situation. Big hugs to both of you!

Washer, the snow has missed Glasgow but my parent's are in the Border's and they're stuck. As are my friends in Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire... in fact, it seems only to be because I'm in the city that I've escaped! Rain and wind however are Kansas cyclone bad and I'm worried I'll end up in the land of the Munchkins with the Wicked witch of the East cackiling in the background!

I do hope Numpty's journey down the road has not be too awful - and that he's wrapped up warm!

I think this might be my 1000th post :D.

Oh, bump... yup, must remember, I'm here to bust those trolls!

Hi nicca

My room is pretty light, it has 2 windows (1 south facing, 1 west) and a half glass door and so I'm thinking I might be able to get away with that colour.

I saw some really nice glass splashbacks on Monday - B&Q had them for £85 including red (not sure that is the cheapest you can get I just happened to notice them there.) Think I'll wait until I have decided on my paint before I go for a splashback in case it ends up clashing. The good thing about going for that colour is I could then go for black & white floor in a sheet, which will be far less faff than individual tiles.

Congrats on your 1000th post :j

Tixy - is your kitchen large with lots of light like the one in the photo as IMO it would only work if it was like that - but as it is shown it is great

Mind you - I still think that RED & WHITE tiled floor would be better but I am biased towards red & white remember ;););)

Should display this:
The MoneySavingExpert.com forum is a place to share info and tips with others, discuss MoneySaving and pick up ways to save. We hope you’ll enjoy it, but ask you to remember it’s a broad church with many different types of people. Follow these basic rules to make it a good place to be.

Please be nice to all MoneySavers : There's no such thing as a stupid question and, even if you disagree, courtesy helps.

Please be sensitive : This may be a web forum, but you’re still talking to other human beings. Repeatedly or harshly saying someone’s wrong, especially on boards like DebtFreeWannabe, Bankruptcy or Benefits, can lead to upset.

We’re proud that many people whose financial problems exacerbate mental health issues seek help in the forum, but this means you may be berating someone who’s clinically depressed. Please think twice before posting judgmental comments.

Don't feed the trolls : Sadly the web has a habit of throwing up a very small but vocal number of trolls, people who are nasty or contrary just to get a rise out of you. If someone’s doing this, simply don’t reply, just report it to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com. I too would prefer red & white in a way - I think its more unusual.
My kitchen is probably similar in size but also has a window on the far wall (where her cooker is, my units are a u shape at the far end- the cupboard doors I have to fit are a similar colour (maybe a tad darker).

Needless to say my kitchen is never, ever that tidy - and often also has a large black & white dog sitting in the middle of it, you know how they do, creep up behind you whilst you are cooking so that you nearly step on them when you step backwards!

The form etiquette symbol is either "no fighting" or "ninja debt-busting advice", I reckon! :D

Hahaha, Tixy, I can just imagine your doggy creeping up behind you. I had a visit from my neighbours dog today. Ofetn it's out in the close and if you come in, it wanders up after you and has a wee nose around your flat. I don't know it's name though so I just have to call it dog! It's a mongrel and is fab. I don't know how it keeps managing to get itself shut out (or be deliberately shut out :().

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

Kind wishes
