    hi washer
i only looked on this thread to find out what the hell a troll was and after reading over 500 posts i came across your one about your dad i know how you feel as my dad went through the same in 2004 he also had advanced prostate cancer he also had no signs only through a p.s.a test. i just want to let you know that prostate caner is one of the slowest growing cancers there is my dad had his prostate out in 2005 after 6 weeks of radio therapy every day he is fine, not totally out of the woods yet but he is on the mend and goes the gym everyday lol. i hope this gives you a bit of peace of mind as i think the word cancer itself scares alot of people. i hope your dad will be ok and i will carry on my quest on finding out what is a troll :)

Carol, many many thanks for your post, its so reassuring to find someone else who knows how I am feeling at this moment in time, you are right, the word cancer is a very scary word and I thought the worst at the time of being told. My dad p.s.a test was positive, with a reading on the Gleason scale of 8, do you remember what your Fathers Gleason reading was? I have read tons of stuff on the internet about prostate cancer and sometimes it doesn't really help, information overload for the layperson can be dangerous, I feel.

I hope your dad remains well and continues enjoying a long and happy life.

The heavens have opened here, it was lovely this morning as I enjoyed a peaceful coffee in the garden, so much for spring!

Hello all! Washer - sorry to hear about Dad, let's hope the consultant can help.

Carol - welcome to the thread, new bumpers always welcome. Sometimes a new person plucks up the courage to start a thread about their problem, and amongst all the helpful replies they might get one or two nasty, spiteful ones posted by people who have nothing better to do with their time than take the mick out of other people's problems. These are what we call trolls, and we bump this thread to the first page regularly to keep the anti-troll message in view. Any trolls that do show their scabby faces get reported and the powers that be in MSE Towers delete their posts and block them from posting again.

I guess Numpty is en route darn sarf to visit Wol?

    Hi all
Talking about trolls, time for another one of these :D

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

    Kind wishes
    P

Hello :wave:and welcome to any newbies and lurkers out there trying to pluck up the courage to post. There are loads of really helpful and friendly (and modest as well:)) people on here willing to help you out and give you lots of good advice. Please read the above message and try to ignore any unhelpful or hurtful posts. Trolls feed on attention, if you ignore them they usually go away.
    Good luck.

    Hi washer
my dads p.s.a was 13 on the verge of spreading he had a few options
also my dad was 58 at the time with your dad being 64 i know it is only a couple years but it makes a differance in terms of speading as the glands start slowing down after the age of 55 which is good news for your dad also he went in for 3 biopsy's first 2 could not find the cancer they tried a different place on the 3rd go and yes it was there i must admit once they had found it cannot fault the n.h.s my mum even wanted to go private the appointment from the n.h.s came first lol he will prob have a few options 1 would to have gromits placed inside they shrink the cancer cells, or have the prostate out which is quite a big operation my dad was in for about 10 days and could not eat for the first 4 days as they had to what for his bowels to settle back into place after his radio therapy he was fine as i said he is not out of the woods yet but as i said the cancer unit is fabulous so much help the reason it got so high the p.s.a is on the two biopsy's they kept comming back negative as i said he is lucky as he has his age on his side :)

Afternoon all, sorry for the late appearance.

Washer - I'd just like to belatedly add my voice to what the others have said, which is that on this thread we may spout a lot of nonsense most of the time but anyone is always welcome and encouraged to post any problems or emotions they are going through. I know in many ways we cannot be much help but there is truth in the fact that talking about things can help ease the burden and the worry a little and we will do all we can.

I do hope that the consultant can help and that hopefully things are not as bad as you must fear. Fingers crossed and thinking of you.

Carol - how fortunate that you stopped by and can help give Washer some useful information and real life experience.

Hello to everyone else - thanks for the tile tips all. I have come across this kitchen design - http://www.designsbymw.co.uk/Press/Beautiful%20Kitchens%20June%2009%20waterloo%20RO.pdf if anyone wants to take a look -if so what did you think of the wall colour?

    Back later
