I'm looking for the above, just for surfing, emails etc while I'm waiting at deliveries.. I won't be downloading music or films etc.
Is anyone using one they can recommend? Must be PAYG, contract is a no-no!
Cheers guys

I use pay and go T-Mobile, think the unit cost £20 or £25 from Argos, and top up--
the basic tariff is £2.00 per day, but if you validate your account, gave them bank account details, they took 36p out, then refunded it, this enables me to change the tariff
I can have
£2 per day
£10 for 14 days
£15 for 28days
Just swipe as though you were using a mobile phone top up, there is a good amount of internet time
You can also check TMobile website to make sure you get coverage.
No I don't work for TMobile, I was in same position came out of contract and shopped around, and T-Mobile was the best deal.xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
im using tmobile right now, the very BEST thing about tmobile is the fact that its unlimited internet for the tarrif you choose, i paid £15 for 30 days ive already used my bandwidth and now im happily surfing the net for the rest of the period, i can download stuff between midnight and 4pm between 4pm and midnight im restricted to just browsing the internet.
and when i say downloading, this includes iplayer, streaming internet stuff, like youtube for example, all comes off your bandwidth, after the bandwidth its used, your restricted between 4pm and midnight, you can only browse the web.0 -
If your use is very variable - some days a fair bit, some days none, then I reckon the best deal is the Vodafone Top Up and Go

Now at £25 for dongle with £15 credit built in. Key thing is NO EXPIRY of the 1GB for £15 allowance. I use one for occasional travel & when the home internet is down, £15 lasts ages. Also a doddle to install/use.
[ see corrected info below - this deal was too good to last it appears, glad I still have the old one ]0 -

Are you sure? It was no expiry when I bought mine last year but I'm pretty sure it's now a 30 day limit. I'm yet to find out whether that affects existing customers or just for the new dongles."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

That sums it up. I could go for days without using it, all depends where I have to deliver.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Apparently with any new dongles from Vodafone, the credit only lasts 30 days. The older dongles that had the unlimited expiry will still have that as long as it is connected at least every 180 days and it will only get 1GB/£15 whereas the new dongles are 3GB/£15."She is quite the oddball. Well that's a !!!!!!
The chances of me using (or needing to) 3 gig a month are pretty slim.
After looking round they all seem to work on the same(ish) lines so it looks like I'll have to go for it.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
Looks like Voda knew a good deal when they saw one - and have now scrapped it!
I'm hanging onto the old SIM then as a no-credit-expiry deal is great if you already have broadband.
(the new deal where all credit expires after 30 days
, even though £15 gives 3GB of data, makes it a me-too with the competitors now). 0 -
Local Tesco Home Plus store has a shelf full of the old Voda 1GB/£15 ones (£30 reduced from £40). However nothing on the box to confirm for sure there is no credit expiry. These are obviously the old scheme Voda dongles pre Dec 2009, wonder if there is any risk of the credit expiring on these if activated nowadays?0

Yep, I would recommend a Vodafone one but they are pretty shady by sounds of it now.
The T-Mobile ones seem OK
The only quirp I have about Vodafone is they have a content manager which stops you accessing certain sites, anything which triggers a potential alert like MP3, Pr0n, Videos can be blocked.
I think it can be removed by calling Vodafone or working on the software but I never use my mobile internet tbh. I will be using it more when I fix my laptop. Gonna use google earth a fair bit
