No.10 Petition - Fuel Duty Rise - 24hrs left!

Actually, i've made an effort to do something.
It really stung hard last time when diesel prices hit 135p per litre, and heating oil prices went through the roof. Not that i couldnt afford it, just that i though why the !!!! should i?
So when i was due to change my car, i bought the most economical car for my budget, reduced my mileage to non stupid mileage, and changed our heating source for our new house, when it would have been cheaper and easier to just stick an oil boiler in.
I'm personally trying to minimise the money the government gets from me, and we can all do the same, over time, with small steps. THATS how we hit them, THATS how we make a difference.
But sure you just go ahead clicking a few buttons and be all pretentious about it.
I disagree - naturally...
You are not hitting them... 'they' are forcing you into being that way, and not only you, all of us.
I count my pennies daily, I have to, to survive. I use my car for work, as I cannot get there any other way. Its parked up Friday night and doesn't move til Monday morning. I'm not being green - I just can't afford to use it at the weekend. I pay quite a bit in tax, like alot of us - what do we get back? Higher taxes, more taxes, more rules, more, more..... great country.Genie

Majority of those in the UK are not human beings, they are ostriches.

I have never complained about the price of fuel, if we don't pay tax on fuel, we will have to pay it on something else, perhaps something less fair, at least we have the option of reducing our usage of fuel, and thus our tax paid.
I am not a betting man, but I will give odds of ten to one that this petition will achieve zero difference.;)0 -

My concern is with how to manage my money etc. - hence this website, I find what I have to pay for fuel, tax and etc. - like many others, to be far too expensive and we are, no doubt, getting ripped off.
You, obviously, are not worried about the pennies, as you can indulge your whims - alot of us can't.
I see, so its "You lot! Get off your backside and do things! What, me? No, I can't do those things, I'm too busy doing...erm...other things."0 -

You are probably correct in your prediction - doesn't make it ok tho, does it.
You should complain about the fuel tax etc.... we are over taxed in this country and it is getting ridiculous!Genie

You're absolutely right Jeannie, and the only way to change any of it is to vote out the liars and thieves...difficult decision then seeing as the only alternative party without their fingers in the till is the vile and odious one....not as thats my opinion of them but i had to put that to please the brainwashed.0 -
I am infuriated! I wrote a longish reply to pew pew criticise everyone but does nothing himself lasers, to find the site crashed for a mo...gilbert_and_sullivan wrote: »You're absolutely right Jeannie, and the only way to change any of it is to vote out the liars and thieves...difficult decision then seeing as the only alternative party without their fingers in the till is the vile and odious one....not as thats my opinion of them but i had to put that to please the brainwashed.
Can't be bothered to respond to the useless idiot again. Love the way he criticised me for doing nothing - when that is the opposite - and then he goes off to restore a 180 year old something or other! Not saying it shouldn't be restored, but cannot see how that would help society or any of us mse'ers save any money!l
I'm not liking living in this society as it stands.Genie

We wouldn't though, that's the argument the politicians use but it never works like this. In fact I think the last time they put fuel duty up the income to the treasury's coffers from it actually went DOWN because people couldn't afford it.I have never complained about the price of fuel, if we don't pay tax on fuel, we will have to pay it on something else, perhaps something less fair, at least we have the option of reducing our usage of fuel, and thus our tax paid.

It's like the argument they used for the Manchester congestion charge. Vote yes and we'll give you this pot of money to vastly improve your public transport system! And now, a year or so later, oh so you voted no, oh, well, just have the money anyway. Not that it will make any visible difference on the ground mind you.0 -
Its starting to seem more and more that way I'm afraid. Well I'm not afraid; the 'mainstream' media and politicoes should be though.gilbert_and_sullivan wrote: »You're absolutely right Jeannie, and the only way to change any of it is to vote out the liars and thieves...difficult decision then seeing as the only alternative party without their fingers in the till is the vile and odious one....not as thats my opinion of them but i had to put that to please the brainwashed.0 -

Nor are 90% of us, and the smarmy politicians are once again making noises to woo whover they can to vote for them whilst skirting around the reall issues facing this country, and the sheeple will fall for it again, it may mean the blue team get their prefect in at the headmasters study for a term or three but nothing will change, it never does as they are all the same.
I'll guarantee you one thing that will still be the case in ten or a hundred years time....politicians will still be doing very nicely thankyou and the proletariat still won't matter one iota except apparently when an elections due.0 -

Oh I know you are right - but I have never known this country to be at such a low. Everyone (slight exaggeration) if given the chance, would go off and live elsewhere. I know I would if I had the money! I'll just keep working and doing my bit - it'll not get me anywhere tho!Genie
