Jeannie, do you honestly believe anyone takes any notice of these petitions?
Of course they don't, they were instigated to placate the plebs in to thinking that they have some kind of say in matters.
Sadly they do not.
Oh and BTW, people are only sitting on their ar5es filling in an online petition.0 -

Jeannie: The issue is, the government controls the media.. so is it any wonder.
You cotton on quick.....
The Americans get round it tho... so should we, or just shut up, put up etc. I am fed up with people moaning and doing nothing!
Re block exemption for example, I felt strongly about. Posted it on here, got on the website and wrote many letters too. And I am pleased to say that at present, it is looking good for the consumer
But ask people if they know about this law that has been in since 2002... so many don't - cos it hasn't been in the media nor has it been in the media about it possibly not being renewed in May this year either.
I chose to not sit on my ar5e and at least try!Genie

Sign the petition - it doesn't hurt, nor does it hurt to be a pain in the bottom and write and email their so called caring MP's and pester anyone they think might have a big gob and shout on our behalf. Or as said before, do nothing and don't complain about the price of fuel!
Majority of those in the UK are not human beings, they are ostriches.

Go slow is a good idea. Maybe we should organise a MASS go slow on one day, for several hours, around all the major ring roads in the country - M60, M25 etc... That would actually affect the economy that day.
I think it was in Thailand where the cabbies got fed up with fuel prices and parked their cars on some major road, and just left them there. There's some photos online, it looked quite amazing. Couldn't do that here as its illegal to just park on a motorway.0 -

A go slow on the M25? Would anyone notice? It is shocking at the best of times....

Why are our Continental neighbours far more adept at letting their grievances be known?
The French will not hesitate to blockade a port, block a motorway, close an airport etc.
The Spanish will do the same a good recent example was when Nissan announced the closure of a plant near Barcelona - within 24 hours every window of every Nissan showroom in Catalunya was smashed! (I am not condoning criminal damage though.)
It sickens me that so many of the Great British Public will take the attitude of "it's too difficult", "it won't make a difference", "no point bothering".
Perhaps we shouldn't have bothered fighting Nazi opression and the overwhelming might of the German machine in the 40's? Perhaps Magellan and Columbus shouldn't have bothered with their exploration of the world? Perhaps we shouldn't have persevered with the difficulties in developing microchips to make the modern world what it is? Should we pack up the fight against cancer too, because it's hard??
One thing in life is certain.... if you don't TRY, you won't GET.0 -

All you negative not get off your backsides type attitude really do sum up this country at the moment!
So ready to pick at anything anyone else does or tries to do - but do absolutely nothing, nothing to contribute to anything!

FWIW i HAVE done something about it - and a lot more than filling in some pointless form on the internet.
I went from a fuel hungry 4x4 jeep a couple of years ago that at one point was using £500 of diesel a month. I also stupidly changed my cars about every six months and once again Gordon got his wedge out of that too.
SO, what i've done is buy the most economical car that meets my needs. That turned out to be a bluemotion passat that is averaging around 64mpg, compared to low 20's with some of my other cars. I also plan on keeping this car 10 years, hence Gordon wont get his VAT with every change of car i previously made.
If i do want a 'fun' car, i'll buy something to have for the weekends and sell it when i get bored. I wont use a dealer to buy that and again Gordon wont get his VAT on their profit.
Oh, and we're building a new house - totally VAT free because its a new build, so thats £300,000 of labour and materials that Gordon wont get VAT on - and instead of running it on fossil fuels we're installing a wood pellet burner combined with solar panels. The house also has a very high level of insulation and upgraded glass and frames to reduce heat loss.
So go right ahead and fill in your wee form online, but i know which one of us will be paying less in fuel duty this year compared to last year, and i know which one will be paying more.

Except the French do it for seemingly no reason.jeannieblue wrote: »Oh I'd love that! So French - and they never back down!
So, when shall we do it then?
