By recognising the danger signs, you can do things differently. You are no longer in denial!

Also, I think the first year of your first child's life, is an amazing time, but incredibly tiring and stressful too, because there are so many changes. It is not unusual for parents to feel like you and your wife do, even if there are no other pressures. My husband and I felt totally rung out for that first year, although we absolutely adored our little, longed for son and still do as he turns into a burley teenager. He's the best thing that ever happened to us.

You need to take good care of yourself, so that you can be there for your precious family, who need you.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

I know scrooge - your post has got me in tears as I worry about little one and hope that none of this passes onto him.

I am just sick to death of the constant fighting - I feel absolutely worn down and think I am going to have an early night tonight - will go in about half hour just going to chill out on a computer game for 30 mins and make DS's bottles up and then hit hte sack -

I hope you got a good night's sleep.

I am sure your wife is far more concerned about your well being now than the debts, and will be delighted as she sees you taking steps to regain your equilibrium.

With CCCS it will not be long before your creditors stop contacting you, you will have a manageable budget that you can work with, and you can start re-gaining control.

You will get there, but now is not the time to give up and give in. The little one will be fine too. I slept so little in that first year, that I remember calling a crisis line for sleep deprived parents, in desperation, I don't know how I got through it, but DS did just fine.

I slept like a log as I always do (I am usually in bed around 2-3am so go when I am ready to drop)

After taking DS Swimming today, we did the few little bits we desperately needed to do and I then spent this afternoon working through finishing my project car - I have given myself until the end of the month to get it finished so I can break up the daily drive which has a number of problems requiring expensive parts if I am to keep it on the road - and its tax is up at the end of the month.

Only problem is it needs a set of tyres as the current ones are illegal for road use.... but the ones on the daily drive are getting worn out as well..

Morning nolongerindenial, it sounds like you had a productive day yesterday, and that you have a tyre challenge looming, are scrap yards an option?

You should get a reply to your CCCS query on Monday. Have a great Sunday.

    everywhere is an option lol.

trouble is there a specific size which is not common - im hoping I can source something as cheaply as possible.

I am lucky in the sense I will pay next to nothing for fitting/inflating as a friend of mine works at a tyre fitting place

  • wow its been 3 months since i last posted on here!

And what a 3 months, Just got off the phone to MBNA, who I have been unable to pay for the past 7 months due to a distinct lack of money and me trying to save up every penny I could to try and pay lump sums and they have agreed a full and final settlement!

    Outstanding balance of £2990
    Settlement amount: £1012
To be paid by the 31st September!
This means each pound im spending with them, equates to £2.95 of debt! I just hope I can find another £512 in the next 6 weeks , have £500 stashed away in the safe from the sale of a saxo I bought as scrap, repaired and sold, and I will be in a lot less debt!

Also got an agreement in place with the other two credit card companies, Egg and Natwest payig them a total of £2.83 a month with interest frozen - this makes me a happyish man as MBNA were the ones who have been the worst with me with the exception of Natwest who have now put a CCJ against my name rather than negotiate a payment with me. Although it looks like they are going to put a charge order against the house to recover that money (which will do nothing in the grand scheme of things as we are in massive negative equity due to the credit crunch!)

This should hopefully leave me in a good position to earn a living in the future and get myself debt fre. I dont like the fact I am defaulting on payments however I made the choice earlier this year that it was better for DS for us to buy reasonable quality food, clothes and some toys for him(nothing expensive or extravagant) and bring him up properly than to completely scrimp and save and have him not develop and deal with the consequences. there was no way on gods earth I can afford to make full payments every month to my creditors, it works out at around £700 a month at full payments - and with a surplus after a modest budget for food clothes etc the CCCS calculated we had £200 a month excess, and an IVA company £75 a month excess (both provided with same figures)

I just now hope my clients pay up so I can pay up and then whilst im skint, im skint but more in control of being skint!
