Hi nolongerindenial - congrats on making your first steps..As you have a 3 month old baby, have you tried your local nct nearlynew sales for clothes/ toys/ stuff? I saved a fortune using them, and you dont have to be a member. You can also sell at them later too.
Also, you local childrens centre should have a toy library - wish they were around when my 3 were babies - Id have had far less clutter too!! (ours loans out big toys too).

    Good luck! LHB

I have my own business as well as PAYE work, so I can appreciate how difficult it is budgeting your time, when there are so many things competing for attention. It can seem overwhelming at times.

Lists are great though, and just keep on plodding on, eventually things will begin to fall into place.

    All the best.

  • Tell me about it, got clients who all want there share of the pie as well ;)

But I must admit, I did feel reallly lazy just now... The Tesco Van Turned up and brought my weekly shop to me, something we have religously done once a week every week since we moved in to the house - and what normally takes us 2-3 hours (the weekly shop + unpacking) took us just 30 minutes online and 10 mins to unpack, check and put away in the cupboards - had to console myself with the thought that this guy wouldnt be judging me as lazy as it created a job for him ;)

  • Well, todays definately a down day :(Hectic with work until now - just opened the Post :( )

Well today we have two bad letters one from Apex Credit Management Ltd, and one from BT :(

I dont knwo what to do - will list the gist of them now

Apex Credit Management: RE Lloyds TSB Bank plc -> they are chasing me about this debt for £268.84, which is in relation to bank charges from when I left the Lloyds to come to my current bank due to what I considered to be crippling bank charges from them, I have tried to reclaim them back under hardship and they simply put me on hold, then rejected my claim, gave me 7 days to pay them and set these guys on me. This letter states if i dont pay in full or provide an acceptable proposal of payment within 72 hours (letter dated 15th March - so thats up already) they may take legal action etc.

BT want there quarterly bill of 149.81 immediately.

In all honesty, I dont know what to do, I am in a nasty rut in terms of money and am basically a busy fool. I calculated the two websites which are finally going live now, I am on well less than £1 an hour for these projects due to unforseen problems with the development taking a lot longer than anticipated.

I am at the stage I am now scared of answering the phone, dont know what to do or who to turn to. the number of times I have done all these SOA calculators etc it is unbelievable.

I know without doubt, If I was to be left for 6 months to get back to what I was earning this time last year and be frugal like im becoming - rather than spending 1/2 day every day sorting paperwork out for my debt, I could potentially have a lump sum to pay virtually all my creditors off

On the plus side one of the car parts I was expecting £20 for, went for £52 yesterday

Is there any way with BT you can set up a payment plan? Where you pay a set amount every month regardless of what your bills are? Mine started at £25, they then upped it to £45 as the £25 wasn't meeting the bills every quarter, and when I got into credit I was able to lower it to £35 a month as that is roughly what we spend. I know with a business you'll probably spend more on your phoneline but it's worth a try maybe?

The Apex letter, is there any possiblilty you could set up a payment plan with them too? Maybe give them a ring and say you've only just received the letter and you would like to sort something with them?

Sorry your having a tough time at the minute, well done on the car parts though :) Is there anyone that can help you organise the paperwork? Do you work from home or in an office? Maybe when baby has a nap your OH could help a little just sorting the paperwork into different folders to which company it belongs?

It is difficult to start with but things will look up soon :)

  • I know I need to get everything sorted, this apex/bt letter has just come at the wrong time and like a kick in the balls to someone who is already feeling at rock bottom but still trying to be positive and work out what is actually an affordable budget.

right now I feel like losing my templer and saying F&*! it!

probably not a good idea really

Afternoon nolongerindenial. You were probably in denial, because subconsciously you knew just how difficult it would be to face up to the reality of the situation, it was therefore a logical response, but ultimately futile.

Therefore, although it is going to be a long haul, you are going to turn things around, you're just having a bad day.

It might be worth posting your situation on the ask a CCCS councillor thread on the Debt Free Wanabee forum. They are a very good and helpful organisation, that Martin highly recommends.

  • I totally agree,my biggest worry is i have been too blarzay (spelling?) about it for way to long and now it is simply too late to recover the situation.

I will post my situation on the CCCS Thread after I have eaten and see what they say.
