  • Right, I have now gotjust about all of the credit information together, and have just found my experiean log in so will now write a thread to the CCCS counselour and copy it in here for completeness.

Last night we listed more stuff on ebay, including me going out to the shed at 10pm last night to get photo's - and it was very cold!

its amazing how much rubbish we have lieing around which is worth quite a lot of money, today I may start on my box of network routers (keeping one as a spare - never know when the one we have will fail and cause all sorts of problems money making)

Then I may start listing all the stuff that has accumulated in my baby's room over the past 12 months. The only thing I want to buy out of all this ebay money is a tin of blue paint for the walls and a couple of dangly's for the cealing to amaze him with and a blind to keep the light out in the morning

  • well during my routine morning break, I have been round the house, and working on an average £2 profit per order(based upon 99p start price and postage costs etc) I should easily be able to clear £500+ just clearing out what we have lieing around uneeded - and that is without going into the loft and starting to empty that, or relying on the car parts which are in my lockup, my dads shed or my shed!

Working out what I have in the sheds and lockup I should be able to clear £2-3000 before I break one of my cars - which should see me another £600-1000.

I cant wait till this stuff starts going, will also get an easier life from the OH due to the lack of spares lieing around, although she didnt complain when we had a puncture and i didnt need to buy a spare tyre (I just took one of my spare alloys I have accumulated which matched the car and put that in the boot) Will sell the alloy with the dead tyre for scrap next time im at the metal merchants. that be £30 saved from the car maintenence budget due to wheeling and dealing (Swapped some of my spares for a couple sets of alloys with good road legal tyres :rotfl:)

    Hi,

It sounds like you are living in a treasure trove, I hope ebay brings you riches.

Are you getting all the benefits you are entitled to? There is nothing noted on your SOA. I know tax credits are a bit of a nightmare when you are estimating self employed income, but I would review it, if you haven't already done so, as having a child and a lower income can make a big difference to the amount they pay.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
  • We are checking up on all the benefits, especially the tax credits, currently we get £75 every 4 calender weeks due to a disability I have, and 24 a week due to our sons family tax credit. (Again I just spotted another error on my SOA - Thanks Scrooge)

Treasure Trove, not really more like a horders paradise. I hate throwing away things I know will make me money when I get around to selling it  Well now is the time to get around to selling it, and I have started.

The only way to truthfully describe myself, is gadget crazy, just today a little electronic thermometer which looks cool has turned up which I won on ebay about 4 weeks ago and then realised it had to come from hong kong. This is typical of why I am in the position I am in, and it is only recently I have realised this. I, Like so many consumers out there have made too many impulse purchases when times were good (financially me and my wife were bringing in just short of £50k a year), and this probably equates for a large percentage of the debt, and the rest of it was just to needing to buy building materials to get the house right (Labour on the most part was free - but we had to buy a new boiler, all new radiators, new pipework throughout, replaster some walls, and put in a new bathroom suite and sort out the front garden) Well the house is done apart from a couple set of blinds needed and then no more spending on the house!

God I hate selling a car privately, if it is not for the time wasters you wait in for all morning, or the people who phone you up and there first question is not about the condition/features of the car, but its simply "whats your last price?" When I refuse to give them a lower price, instead inviting them to make me an offer of what you would like to pay and we will talk - it is always - "well ill speak to my mate and call you back"

Tis really getting on my nerves to the point im thinking of taking the simple option and take less money for it in a easy deal with a trader

  • Looks like I may have a buyer for the car, which will reduce our debt by £3000, should be here monday/tuesday with cash to drive it away... The plan is simple

Phone Toyota and completely pay off finance :D

This will leave me with around £1500 to clear other high interest debts, which I am hoping I can clear my affairs with 2-3 other institutions including ones with lower balances through negotiating full & final settlements

    Apec from above
Santander (this balance is the outstanding amount from our wedding rings)
    Egg
    Natwest Credit Card

In total this would clear just under £2100 from the balance, and giving bring down the debt balance to £19210.

does anyone have any tips for acieving this? am i being to ambitious with the amount of discount or amy I being to easy on them?

  • well onto day 11 of my new found resolve and our monthly budget has gone up.

We have finally, after 10 weeks of trying, got the child benefit office to realise we have a baby! And this was considering we fastracked the information direct via the townhall when we registered him!

They say a payment is being authorised today for the arrears, but wont tell us what the amount is :(

So a little good news today
