  • P.S Once the loft conversion is done we will be able to buy ourselves a nice 4 bed house in the country (Kent) - as SOON as its done (starts in 1 week) then we will be putting the flat on the market (we are off on holiday to maldives for 2 weeks)

Well I think you have answered your own question then. Obviously you are not stuck in unsuitable accomodation as so many other people in this country are. Perhaps if your neighbours do actually get upset then you could arrange another holiday?
Hope your baby is feeling better.

    Hi All

I have a 6 month old and we live on the top floor of a big house, about to do a loft conversion so our daughter can have her own room and then we will sell.

I am starting to lose the plot a little so wanted to share...

Everytime our baby cries or screams I freak out over what the neighbours downstairs think - for example when she wakes at 6.30am and has her bottle I try and put her back down aroun 8.30am as she gets cracnky, I know that downstairs work shifts (they are a lovely young couple that have just brought the place and moved in) so I try to not make any noise, anyway this week our daughter has woken up every night around 8pm crying, having gone into the bedroom I can hear that downstairs have the radio on really loud, last night she screamed the place down for half an hour before I could get her to settle, by this point I was crying myself

This morning I have gone to put her down and she has screamed blue murder and for the first time I thought "Sod this she can scream, she holds her hands up for me to pick her up when I go in so I shut her in the bedroom, shut the living room door and sat by the door crying.....hey presto in 12 minutes she had passed out"

Should I do this and not worry about the neighbours, they have said before they never ever hear her and I thought "Yeah thats cos I try and not let her cry!":(

My old neighbours had a toddler who would wake up in the middle of the night and just cry for an hour or so, it was more like screaming. It woke me up on several occasions. Although it was inconvenient, I was not angry or annoyed because I understand that children can be distressed for lots of reasons. I always feel you can complain about some things but not about children crying.

I really feel for you as my best friend has a daughter who will scream and cry herself into oblivion. I like belfastgirls suggestion.

when my next door neighbours had a baby the crying did wake me, but i didnt get annoyed, as i have two kids myself, and know what they're like. when i got really tired after several bad nights, i'd go sleep on my sofa
