I have been out with the dog and there wasn't many people out. We have fair weather walkers round here. God knows what the do with their dogs in winter!

They probably have wussy ones like my Lab who will not get his feet wet, or go through mud!!
The girls ( mares ) don't care what the weather is as long as they can get out and eat.
OS style - tried one of the Hairy Biker recipes last night - chicken in brandy..delicious except I was a bit enthusiashtic with the barndy:D
  • MSD – thinking of you and send lots of good vibes. Hope it all works out.
Snoozer – DW definitely counts. As should WM. Make the most of it and get somebody to pamper you!
Looby_Lou – hope DS feels better soon and you manage to get away OK. Thank goodness for kind neighbours, eh!
Sunnyday / Sandy 71 – we have the same thing here – fairweather dog walkers. I feel sorry for the poor dogs who must be itching to get outside! Mine would go crazy if he missed one of his walks.

I’m thinking I might take the afternoon off work. I have a bizarre craving to put on a chick-flick and clean the house… I need to clean the fridge out (having discovered the source of the funny smell last night – gone off kidney beans – I feel the need to thoroughly clean!), do some laundry and get the ironing done. We picked up a new friend for my lonely bunny last night – they seem to be getting on OK but I need to keep half an eye on them really. It’s Puppy-Dog’s birthday today so will dig out a nice chewy for him (not that he has any idea it’s his birthday. But I don’t have children so I shall indulge the dog instead:p).

I’ve decided to go back on my diet (again), so I need to make a few dishes for that. I bought a bag of dried chickpeas the other day and I’m a bit scared about using them – somebody said they were poisonous if not cooked correctly! Anyway, I might brave making some falafel or something. I bake them so they’re quite healthy and lovely in pitta bread with a bit of salad.

OS plans for the weekend – making something to use up the glut of milk I’ve somehow aqcuired, kicking off a new rubber chicken on Sunday (assuming I remember to take it out of the freezer), and making millionaires shortbread for the Boy. He’ll like that.

    Happy Friday everybody!

    Gxx

    Morning All.

    Diva Lots of positive vibes
Sunnyday I know what you mean about pans, never had a matching set, ever! I have a cunning plan to give my DD our old ones when she moves into her own place and maybe I will get some new ones. After all it's only been 25 years:rotfl:
Kazzaw good luck with the funeral, they are never nice
Louby Lou Hope you get away on time. Enjoy the rest, sounds like you need it!
Lowesy Know exactly what you mean, you could be talking about my youngest brother. He is currently out of work and can't find a job. He is very overweight which doesn't help and doesn't have any qualifications. I keep suggesting he goes to college but that would involve a bit effort:mad:

Well thanks for the positive vibes for my DD yesterday. Sadly she didn't pass but it was nothing major so she has put straight back in for it. First date available is April. The annoying thing is it is soo expensive and she really needs to hang on to every penny while she is trying to set herself up in her own place.

We are planning to go to the pics and watch a girly film tonight, which hopefully will cheer her up. DH will be babysitting, but he should be in bed fast asleep :)

I finally finished my crochet slippers last night. Hurray. Everybody thought it was very funny and that they look like pixie shoes but I am really really proud of myself. To say I couldn't crochet at all a couple of months ago. Anyway onto the next project:D

Meatballs, pasta and garlic bread tonight, so nice and easy. The pork loin was absolutley gorgeous last night and easily fed 6 of us. Not bad for £2. We had it with roast potatoes veg and gravy Yummy.

Have a good day everybody. Hugs to those who need them x

My dog hates the rain and mud (Lucher but mostly Greyhound) but if he didn't get a walk he would be bouncing of the walls. I have the only dog in the world with ADHD:rotfl:

Sandy - Im afraid I cheat and use Asd*s 5p curry sauce, its the only one I've found that OH will eat. Not bad considering that he spent the best part of 55 years believing he didn't eat curry, still cant get him to eat rice though!!

ETA - In that case I think I've got two dogs with ADHD, mine live to eat and go on walks (runs)

Chickpeas aren't the pulses which are poisonous if undercooked, it's kidney beans, so you'll be quite safe. The only down-side with dried chickpeas is that they take ages to cook, simmering away for about an hour or more. I see you roast yours in the oven, how do you do that? Do you soak them overnight first or what? I found a good recipe for felafel online recently but they turned out a bit wet and squishy when I fried them. I'd be interested to read your recipe if you can be bothered.

I've got some sorting of the kitchen to do today before a rather large order arrives from Approved Foods late this afternoon as I'm going to have trouble finding somewhere to store it all if I don't. After that I've got a baking-session planned but haven't decided what I'm going to make yet.

Bitter & Twisted Try this Falafel recipe from the Grocery Challenge recipe list. They are fab - easy to make and yummy. I added some extra spice as we like things hot but apart from that the recipe works beautifully :T HTH
