You really don't need a SatNav.
The nearest WalMart will sell you a Rand McNally Atlas of America for about five bucks.
And most things are very easy to find - they have to be because Americans are generally about as thick as the back of a bull's balls.

Quite true but I already use TomTom on my PDA here in UK and somebody "cough" gave me the US maps ;) so will be silly not to use them when over there in June.

On the satnav thing I'd have thought that all the main atractions will be pre programmed into the 'points of interest' section of each machine.

v665 of US and Canada maps does have an Amusements POI section, just had a little play and it does list Epcot, Universal Islands of Aventure, Seaworld etc etc not sure how acurate they are but most of the UK built in POI are fairly acurate so I'm guessing they will be fine.

PS. Everybody thinking of getting their Universal tickets, the free kids place offer ends on 30th April, but tickets valid till the end of the year !!

  • Not exactly MSE but just spent over £2k on my attraction tickets for Florida !! Is all getting a little exciting now, I'm such a kid. There are 7 of us going :T :rotfl: :T

Did it a little MSE though, as got attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk (ATD) to price match Orlando Ticket Deals (think they are the same company anyway or somehow related) and that way we still get the FREE Theme Park Survival Rucksack that ATD offer for all purchases over £700 !! I think you get the rucksack, hats for kids, underwater camera, phonecard, sunblock, guides etc

Whilst we are in Florida in May (on our first trip) its my daughter's 15th birthday.
Can anyone help with suggestions what to do or where to go?
Any ideas welcome like restaurants to go to, special events at Disney etc. etc.
She's a typical teenager but all ideas will help towards an eventful birthday to remember.

    Thanks

All of the Disney parks and Seaworld do "behind the scenes" tours which might suit the bill. We did Behind the Scenes of the Dolphin Nursery at Seaworld which my 15 year old thoroughly enjoyed last year, cost $40 each for an hour. You can book and pay online on the Seaworld website.

We did exactly the same for 9 of us but didn't get any of the extras from ATD. When I queried this with them they said it was because they had price matched it.

I made sure I was still going to get the racksack before placing the order, she said it would be posted out as soon as they received full payment, I just paid a deposit first as no point paying until I absolutely have to.

I think you'll find that you will want to do the Disney Parks more than once each :)

    Looking at http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/

You can buy the Disney Premium ticket which covers you for 7 days over 14 days to all of the parks and you can park hop and visit each of the Disney parks in one day which we often did by popping back to Epcot say for the fireworks at 9.00 pm. Costs £155 but for £10 more you can buy the Ultimate ticket which gives you 14 days admission over 14 days and unlimited entrance to the Disney water parks. The 14 days admission over the 14 days means you can "do" Disney at night if you have been at say Universal through the day.

Obviously this will depend on where you are staying and how far you are away from Disney but we always went out at night to one of the parks for the fireworks, especially Epcot.

Check out the Orlando Flex Ticket there where you can get 4 or 5 park tickets which cover the other parks or if you fancy Seaworld and Busch Gardens they have a 2 park ticket on offer at the moment.

As regards where you buy your tickets from I would suggest you decide which tickets you want to buy then Google Disney tickets and check all the websites to find the cheapest and some of course will price match or have an offer on. Last year we decided at the last minute to go and ordered online tickets for Disney where we got the actual tickets on arrival at one of the Disney parks.

    Enjoy your holiday!
