I'm (hopefully) going to florida in april this year, so far, the cheapest flights are either ~£340 via virgin atlantic's sale offer thing or ~£259 going with NWA and doing a transfer at minneapolis airport to orlando with either an hour wait or a three hour wait...

as i'm forking out for me and the girlfriend, a saving of £160-£200 is a *big* thing...

but is it worth it for the extra hassle?

IMO go direct. It's a long flight of at least 8 hours and it's tricky sleeping. I find it hard enough flying direct, clearing customs, driving to resort and no way could I handle a stop over without prospect of proper sleep for another 5 or 6 hours.

On my Florida trip this year I flew Man - Bos - Mia - Tpa. It was a bit of a pain in the bum, but we arrived at Tampa with only 3o mins to drive to the Villa. Noone in the UK flies direct to Tampa from Manchester and originally, AA were going to fly us Man - Ord - Tpa, but a change of timetable stopped us doing that.

Before anyone suggests that my way was (quite frankly) a bit daft and I should have changed airlines - the miles on this trip, added to the ones that I already had, mean that I've now qualified for a free flight to America with AA.

    British Airways do from Gatwick.

But I'm in the far North of England, so I would still have had to do a 300 mile drive to Brighton, OR taken another flight. Plus BA were stupefyingly expensive for the flight at the time (they are still over 20% dearer)!

But my post wasn't very clear, so I'll edit it thumbsup4kk.gif

  • Please can anyone help ? Trying to book flights for Xmas 2007 for 7 people.Prices are extortionate. Is it better to wait or book now and with whom?
  • hi all a question .4 adults,2 children and 1 infant going for 2 weeks on the 27th jan.now i was wondering what would be the best option for us with tickets as there seems to be so much variation.basically we are not a resting family and want to attack the parks everyday and try them all out e.g disney universal, busch gardens, seaworld.it seems to me that buying the park orlanda flex ticket and the 14 day disney pass is not that much more expensive than say buying 7 day disney pass and a few day passes here and there.what do you guys think?is there a better option?also are the prices going up in the new year and is it worth making a desicion today and booking?your help is much appreciated

We bought a 5 park flexi ticket and last year a 4 park flexi ticket .We used the tickets to the max visiting the parks in the day and the evenings for the fireworks and late shows.I would say this is the big advantage of having a 14 day pass rather than buying tickets on entry to the park.
The parks are too big to get around and enjoy on one visit.Once you have a taste for Seaworld or Universal you will want to visit them several times.
  • Were looking at getting four 14 day passes travel agents are wanting about £170 over here.
Is there a better way to get these?
  • you can get the 14 day ultimate tickets for $310 american dollars from http://www.undercovertourist.comwhich works out around £158 sterling. if you sign upto mousesavers.com newsletter they do disccounts for undercovertourist which should see you being able to pick up 14 day tickets for $300 dollars.

  • Have a look at all the websites and check the prices against which tickets you want. This one does price match.

I agree with Bokken in that we had the 14 day pass and often just popped back at night to Epcot or Magic Kingdom just to have an ice cream and watch the fireworks.
