Round the World flights rip off

Ive been sat in my office today passing the hours away searching for a few particular flights.
The flights are:

London - New Delhi
Trivandrum - Singapore
Singapore - Los Angeles
New York - London

So i wondered about building a RTW ticket and seeing what the price was. Let me tell you £1400 more expensive than booking the exact same flights separately.

The only benefits i can see to getting an RTW Ticket is flexibility and miles.

Otherwise its a rip off.

Don't most RTW tickets include 6 or 8 stops?

Also there are huge gaps in your flights. LA is on one side of the US and New York the other.

Presumably those benefits will be exactly why for some people a RTW ticket is most suitable?

Oh dear, not another thread with 'rip off' in the title, we know what that usually means  :D

and New Delhi to Trivandrum is 2700kms apart, I thought someone who has been everywhere twice and been president of each of the countries would know such things, but i suppose distance is nothing when you have your own private plane as im sure you have

oh and its only a rip off if you buy it

Sometimes RTW is cheaper. I have one now that I could not get halfway through for the same price by booking the flights alone. Plus I have had to change it twice, so it has saved money for me that way. Surely it is sensible to compare and then buy the cheapest one? Could go either way. You have a fairly simple trip with not many miles. I suspect RTW is more worthwhile when you're travelling 30,000+ miles on the same ticket.

Of course it depends on your route whether or not an RTW is worth it.

Last year I did MAN-LHR-SIN-BNE-SYD-LAX-BNA-LGA JFK-LHR-MAN on a RTW ticket and saved a fortune compared to the separate flights.

Are you kidding me? I thought New York was a quick half hour greyhound bus away.

Had it occurred to you that perhaps my distances are far apart because i intend to travel between the two places?

Imagine that - going travelling and actually travelling.
