Need a car 3k budget

Hello peeps

My poor little P reg Corsa is on it's last legs and I need to sort out a new motor pronto.

Don't want any debt so I'm gonna use my savings (£3,000).

Any motors people advise me to look for? Avoid?

Is an MG a good idea? Have seen a couple on AutoTrader 40,000 milage, 2005 reg, full service history.

Any help appreciated.

if you like mg rover stuff you've got problems
aviod rover stuff like the plague they are !!!!
french stuff looks good value but can cost a bit repairs wise
jap stuff is a safe bet (if a bit boring)
bmw audi vw pretty good but £3k will get something fairly old
    seat leon
    skoda fabia
    hyundai accident
    all good value

Hi there thanks for the response.

I do like the 'look' of the MG but to be honest, it appealed to me in the first instance due to the low mileage but in my budget.

I did have a look at Ibiza's and Focus' just to compare and their mileage for same price was 100,000.

I've had a little scout around and the reviews don't seem to be to bad for the ZR or am I missing something?

    google rover headgaskets
gaskets fail every 30-60k cost around £500 to replace
poorly designed cars completely outclassed by all its mainstream rivals.

i would rather have a focus withh 100k on the clock than a rover with 20k

Ok I see your point about the gaskets - I will look into this more but my Corsa has 100,000 miles on it so what's the point of buying a replacement with same mileage?

Have a look at Hyundai Getz, great little cars, very reliable, also Kia Picanto's.

Don't fancy spending 3k on an accident!

Hate to be a car snob...but I will...there is no WAY I'd drive a Getz/Picanto. Not my style *cringe*

For a corsa replacement I'd suggest a Toyota Yaris, they're pretty cheap, lots of them about, and they're jap so they run and run.
