Should i stop doin this or is it ok?

Thanks
p.s as a newbie to this site where is the thanks button on post, have looked an looked an i know its going to be in a really obvious place. I would like to know where it is as i think its only fair to thank the people that have helped rather than just taking the information.
Do you need credit in the phone before being able to benefit from the £1 free from registration like o2 ?
cheers!!0 -
Theres nothing to worry about clairehas, so don't panic
The guy who bought mine, his phone was siezed and as it was pay as you go it wasn't registered to him, but me.
Their case is very strong he was arrested a few weeks back and has his trial date soon. I must admit I found it bizarre how I was roped into it, but whatever. I suppose its their job and in this instance Im happy to help them out. I just never thought I could end up involved in anything like this from just selling a simple sim card.Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right0 -
I actually wondered about this possible scenario a few months back.
Finally got my answer.0 -

i didnt think about this! we better be careful, i was just about to sell my in my local newspaper. maybe i will change my mind and just keep them!!
The networks ask you to give them to your mates, they know you are not using them, end of story.
ps if you are not going to sell them, send them to me;) especialy the virgin one's.0 -
Quote from O2 Site
Just give us your details below before the 25th July and the 4 free SIM cards will be on their way. Then all you have to do is let everyone pamper you with attention as you take your time deciding who to give them too.0 -

no, it just gives you that when you register plus whatever tarrif u choose, i always choose the 3000 free evenin and weekends texts n then after the first inital month destroy the card. is this breaching any rules?
would be grateful for any input.0 -
i appreciate what the OP is suggesting but o2 suggest you give to mates, as do tmobile and all the networks realise that we all buy and sell these things, or give them away. they don't expect you to keep all you order.
I think its one of those stupid ideas (although kind to share with us) that people get.
if any of you people have many sim cards and now don;t want to get rid of them in fear of being caught, sell them to me very cheaply, i am more than happy for you to give the police my name, and all contact details if they shud call u regarding a simcard you sold to me.
In all fairness, i assume u will get more money selling on ebay or through other means, so just do it. it can be proven via me ebay records hu and what i sell to.
Im looking forward to the day the police knowck on my door asking to spk to jesus, tinkwinky or tony blair :rotfl:nicky7200 wrote:no, it just gives you that when you register plus whatever tarrif u choose, i always choose the 3000 free evenin and weekends texts n then after the first inital month destroy the card. is this breaching any rules?

I am more than certian many peopk use the credit and bin them or do what you do. this is not illegal in any way. you have ordered the sim card and can do what u want with it
Laura[/QUOTE]
cheers for that, has put my mind at rest, i have been doing it now for about 6 months and have probable sent over 6000 texts didnt want a bill coming or somethin similar.0 -
As the sims are being sold/given away unregistered I can't see how they can come back to me about it
As the ones I had from mobile phone I bought went to the chairty shop. Still in sealed packets.
So unless you are selling on phones/sims that you have already regsitered I don't see the problem.

The free sims that people are sending off for have a registered name/address.............. The person that sends off for them (your name and address that they send them to). If you apply in false names for these, how much more suspicious is that going to look? (they still need an address to send to).
These are sent out for people to spread amongst friends, and boost the mobile networks customer base.
Some/a lot of people are sending off for these with the express intention of selling them on. This is not illegal (AFAIK), but there is a BIG issue here (as highlighted by this thread), as to who you are selling them to. These sims are registered to the person they were sent to.
If you sell a batch of sims to someone you don't know and don't take a receipt/name and address. Who are the police going to contact if these sims are used for an illegal activity? The only record the police will have is the name and address of the person they were sent to. If one of the sims was connected to a serious crime, unless you can prove you sold that sim on to someone else. You're going to be a suspect.
The OP was lucky in as much as the police already knew who committed this crime, and they had proof that they had sold this sim on. How would it have turned out if the police only knew that this phone number was connected to the crime? The first thing the police would know, would be that this number was sent to the OP (that's the only record the phone company would have). Unless the OP could prove they sold/gave this away, they would be a suspect.
I send off for sims with the intention of selling them, but I would never sell them for cash. I've given a couple away to friends (very few to people I can trust), but the rest would only go through Ebay or similar. This way, I have absolute proof that I've sold them on.
Well done to deeds for starting this thread (I'm glad this worked out well for you). I'm amazed at how many people weren't/aren't aware of this problem/danger.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
