I sold my Jenny Packham headband as it didn't suit my new hairstyle.

With the money I made from it, I've bought myself something new for my hair, and I've treated my Mum to a Linea Raffaelli dress and jacket, in her favourite colour - green!

They are £700 new and this one was on ebay for £200 but the seller accepted my best offer of £180!!

ooh - well done gleeful! My mum hasnt sorted her outfit out yet, not even started shopping. Its a bit worrying really as |I have said she may be better off going to a dressmaker and time is ticking away...
  • aarchk-don't worry too much yet, my Ma and her dress maker only went shopping a couple of days ago for the material for her dress so it can't take that long to make the Mother of the Bride outfit! Although I am still gobsmacked..my Ma reckons that after her dress has been made (by a friend, so she's not paying over the odds for the making), her dress will cost not much less than mine..which is £1k!! But I'm so glad she's happy about her outfit-it's nice to see her show a bit of enthusiasm for the wedding!
Hopefully we're off to John Lewis later to pick things for our wedding list!

Am off to John Lewis on Sunday to do the gift list shop. Dreading it tbh as we dont really want to pick too much as we have asked for vouchers for a new kitchen. Can see a few strops going on with H2B in the store. We only moved in together last year and am using my kitchen equipment which is very old, but I dont like the saucepans or anything else in JL. Dont like any of the dining sets they have as we want a boxed set to prevent being left with half a dinner service and having to fork out for the other half. Would rather use debenhams but H2B is adamant the John lewis is the only place for a gift list. hmmm.

The lovely Linda at no. 9 has put my mind at rest over my petticoat. Have sent email to shop explaing I should have the 168 instead of the 163 - will see what they say. Still trying to work out if they deleted my review I left online?

sammr most seamstresses only take 3-4 weeks to carry out alterations, so I shouldn't panic yet.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Am feeling quite shell shocked today. My MIL has been having back problems for a few weeks but instead if painkillers helping she has been getting worse and worse. She has now to date had three lots of bloodwork done, 1 full body xray and she is booked in on sat to have an MRI scan and on the 1st to have a bone marrow sample taken. Her bloodwork came back with protein in it. My OH is beside himself with worry and I am absolutley shocked. I want to rage at the hospital to get it done NOW not wait weeks and weeks. I can guarantee the stress of not knowing is going to send FIL and OH into meltdown as they are not the strongest of people. Don't know quite what to do with myself... stressing over BM dresses just isn't important anymore.

What do we do if shes diagnosed with a form of cancer of leukiemia, do we keep the date as it is, postpone or bring it forward.... I suppose it all depends on the diagnosis.

Sorry for rambling just not sure what to do next.....

    Guys

I am back. MIL had her MRI scan on Sat so now waiting for results. Bone marow probe still to come now though :(

Im only just catching up on posts. Im so sorry to hear this Becks. Only you will know what to do. Some advice from me though.....
Before we got engaged my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was given 3-4 years. :(

Fast forward a year and a half or so and my OH proposes and when we were looking at dates we had to factor in my dad being around. Thankfully it looks as though he will still be here (he is looking so well at the moment its scary as you would think there is nothing wrong). We did have to discuss what we would do in the event of something happening to him and him not being around/too ill etc. We decided that we would have to do everything we could to still go ahead, my dad would want that and would never like to see us waste money just to cancel/postpone etc.

What im trying to say is that hopefully you will only get good positive news back, but if you dont and I so hope you dont. You have to still hang onto the fact that miracles do seem to happen - hey my dad is still here - and if the worst comes to the worst would your MIL want you to be sad?

I hope that helped, if not just whizz past my post :)

  • MM2B I love it! Can I be cheeky and ask how much it was to hire? I was going to make one out of a cardboard box... but now I've seen that!!!
