Another one getting married on 8th April! We are getting married in the Sandals Negril in Jamaica. I booked everything last weekend. Yesterday I chose my bridesmaid, and she paid her deposit for her hotel yesterday afternoon after helping me to choose my dress, which I've also put the deposit down for. Good job I did start looking early though, as apparently this dress will take 5-6 months to come through!!!

Have spent today looking for bridesmaid dresses and have found a possible one that doesn't cost too much - just waiting on the bridesmaid to get back to me about whether she likes it. My dress is quite expensive as it was a full price Soterro and Midgley one, but at least I get to wear it twice, as we'll be having a party back here after we get back (during the easter hols so all of my teacher friends can come).

Very excited now! We've been together 8 years in July, and engaged for about 7, so I'm pleased I've finally persuaded OH, and got the ball well and truly rolling.

I tried my first dresses on yesterday (unplanned wedding shop visit)! I found 3 that I liked and 2 that I loved, both by Sincerity Bridal, which was a bit of a surprise as I didn't think I would like them as much - they look much better (and very flattering!) on than in the photos. The other one was a Romantica of Devon one, but not sure I would choose it as it's strapless and OH doesn't like strapless dresses! Still, very exciting! Still got my proper dress shopping day next weekend, which I am now sooooo excited about - it's so much fun!

Don't worry about the fact that it is strapless - my wedding dress is meant to be strapless, but they are adding small spaghetti straps to mine at my request as I thought it looked better with straps. If you love the dress, then don't let that put you off.

It's so exciting doing the dress shopping. I went with a friend (unplanned trip) and found the dress I wanted, so I got it.

Was talking to my Mum about it, and she is a bit upset that she's missed out on the trying on thing, so I think I'm going to go pretend dress shopping with her somewhere else. Just hope I don't find a dress that I fall in love with more.

I'm going shopping on 20th for bridesmaid dresses if we don't find anything in our local wedding fair on 16th.

Hope you enjoy your dress trying on - just a small tip though - take a bottle of water with you, because you actually get quite hot getting them on and off.

Finally we booked our photographer - what a relief! And he came in under budget as well (just!). That's all the 'big' things done now, which is a real weight off my mind, I am very bad about getting hyper-organised too early but it just makes it all a bit more enjoyable if I don't have to stress about last-minute stuff! :eek:

Thats fine - im from down south too, Oxfordshire way.

I know what you mean - im so organised with everything else so know the wedding will be no different. Id rather have it all sorted and then just look forward to the day. I bough some table decoration stuff at the weekend! :j

lol me too. i have paid for all my decor - nothing need to worry about now until the big day itself :T did you try on the dress i have? Myra - maggie sottero? what did you think?

No I didnt as they didnt have it in there. I did try on ***, *** & ***. I LOVED **** Im going back in a few weeks and they will have *** in for me to try too :-)

How exciting!! I went more wedding dress shopping at the weekend Found another beautiful dress, this one by Jasmine Bridal, but I can't find it on their website!! When the lady at the shop pulled it out for me to try, all of us just went "oooooh" with delight at it. Then she got me to try on the one I liked most first - which was that one - and it was the most beautiful one on, as well!

So I'm going back to the first place I tried on the Sincerity dresses this Sat, with 2 of my maids, to try & compare them in my head. It's weird - none of the dresses I've liked when I've tried them on are ones I have picked out in wedding magazines at all (and unfortunately some of the ones I've really loved the look of in magazines, on designer websites etc, just aren't available to try on in stores), and I never thought I would like a halterneck style, but somehow it really suits me, I think!
