Seen 2 photographers, one is a friend of a friend, we think we have decided on the other. Its so arkward though to know how to let the friend down gently

I've been making vintage beaded headbands and combs for my bridesmaids. Can't post pics yet as I need to root out the camera but I'm very pleased so far0 -

Still seeing photographers, we have seen 3 so far, another 2 to see then we will probably decide on one. I am going dress shopping for the 1st time in a couple of weeks with my bridesmaids too
This is just such an exciting time, I think the stress will kick in closer to the date but at the moment it's just pure excitement :j0 -

Me too (obviously, wedding twins & all) - how exciting! We just booked our honeymoon - I know it's quite early but we are going for a particular cottage which I have seen & fell in love with, it is so beautiful so we have booked it! Yay

HELP! After getting lots of quotes for canapes + sit down meal for 100 we decided on one company; had several telephone conversations with them discussing meal options and received their quote by e-mail etc. Phoned them yesterday to arrange tasting session prior to putting down the deposit and they said "oh yes, we've been meaning to contact you, we've just realised we've been quoting for a wedding - therefore the price has to go up" !!!!
They claim it will take longer to serve canapes and meal at a wedding than at an ordinary party!! Obviosuly I have argued against this - but they said they will discuss it with us next week when we meet up.
Please can anyone advise what I should say at the meeting? (At the moment, what I'm planning on saying is not very polite....)0 -

SouthDon't want to go into any more detail than that on a public forum I'm afraid - hope you understand!
I want to lose some weight too but too excited about dress shopping to wait
Finally we booked our photographer - what a relief! And he came in under budget as well (just!). That's all the 'big' things done now, which is a real weight off my mind, I am very bad about getting hyper-organised too early but it just makes it all a bit more enjoyable if I don't have to stress about last-minute stuff! :eek:0 -

Nevertheless, I would go back to them & ask them to justify what exactly is going to cost them more to do. Ask them to quantify the extra expense. Would they do anything different just because it's a wedding rather than a function? If so, what & why?
As for what they've already said, I don't really believe that. Presumably the numbers aren't going to change - they are the same whether it's a wedding or a function! So how it would take longer, I don't exactly understand. They need to explain & quantify it much better than that.
If you can, I would also insist on arranging a meeting sooner than you have already booked - ultimately if they insist on a higher price that you don't want to pay you will need to find someone else, and the sooner you can start looking, the better for you. If they will not accommodate you wanting to meet them earlier, then that doesn't bode well for any future complications or requirements that you may have.0 -
