Don't know what I'm doing for my hen do - I don't have any bridesmaids any more, as mine dropped out. :(
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

You can have my Bms if you like they are being a right pain in the a**, demanding this that and the other for their outfits which I am completely paying for and have no money left to buy myself bits I need. And I am doing everything myself so they havent had to organise or do anything. Hrmph.

Having joint tame hen/stag with my other half just a meal in the evening and the boys are outawrd bound during the day while I'll organise an afternoon tea or something for the ladies. Am having another boozy hen up north where I went to uni, this is being organised by my GBF from uni, just cocktails and a club, nothing fancy.
  • LOVE the shoes Jezzabell, they'll look fantastic with your colour theme!

I organised the basics of my hen do with my bridesmaids (booked a house, cocktail lesson and pamper party all at the house) and now am leaving it up to them to collect money, sort final details etc.

As much as I love my bridesmaids, they're not the most organised of people so thought I'd give them a helping hand to get things started!! Also, I knew what I wanted for my hen do - a great girly weekend away.

Aarchk, afternoon tea sounds great! Will be a lovely way to spend the day!
  • Hi there, I'm a total newbie here so apologies if I've posted in completely the wrong place - I just wanted some advice really.

We sent out our wedding invites Monday morning (wedding on 16th April), and were really looking forward to receiving RSVPs from our friends and family. However, I had a call from one of my friends this morning who informed that the contact number we'd given out for the wedding venue (they they had given us only 2 months ago) was the wrong one, and that when she phoned they'd given her a new one to ring to book a room to stay the night.

After some investigation it's turned out that they're revamping their website and rebranding the whole venue, and this has included a change of contact number. Unfortunately, it looks like they haven't bothered to communicate this to anyone who has a booking with them. I phoned up the old number and the lady who answered explained that it had only changed on 1st December and that it had been quite last minute, to which I replied politely that surely it wouldn't have been too much trouble to send a bulk email out to everyone with existing bookings to let them know?

I just wanted some advice on the best way to go about making a complaint - I've emailed the events coordinator but no repsonse so far. I've been on the phone all morning to relatives panicking that they're not going to get a room or that we've given them details for the wrong venue by mistake, so we are going to have to either ring everyone to let them know or wait for everyone to ring us. Really not what I need at work in my last week before Christmas!

I know it may seem like such a minor thing and not the end of the world, but surely it's basic Event Management 101 to keep your clients informed of your contact details? Sorry for the rant, I just felt the needvto get it off my chest!

    Any advice gratefully received!
    Thanks in advance
  • Siriamis,
It is poor management that they didn't tell you what was going on, but when your guest phoned the old number, they were given the new one, so no need to panic, any of your guests who phone to book a room using the old number will surely be given the new number.
I can understand that it would be very annoying, I know how much time I've spent making our invitation details correct and double checking them, so I would be upset, but it's not like the number is out of use, so people won't be able to do anything.
Re the complaint, see what the co-ordiantor says first before going any further, give them a chance to sort it out before you go above their head and upset them!

Hi All, I hope you're all keeping warm, what with all this snow around!
My Dad told me yesterday he's booked in his haircut for the wedding-first time in his life he's ever booked a haircut rather than just turn up-I'm quite touched! But he made me think of something I hadn't considered which will affect all us 30th April brides..everywhere will be shut on the Friday because of the royal wedding, so no buying last minute things, waxings, manicures etc..on the day before!
On a more positive note, I found little stars on wires in sainsburys today in bright pink and duck egg blue-which will go with our wedding beautifully-for half price (24p each) so I bought 10 of each colour! Not sure what I'm going to do with them, but something will inspire me, I'm sure!

I am sure it will be fine siramis! most people know to call someone and ask and since the hotel can give the correct number it should be ok. Pain though as you probably spent ages checking all the details before sending the invites - I would probably be hopping mad but then am a perfectionist!

Stupid snow meant my BM couldnt get from Kent to Norfolk this weekend to try on her dress. I really wanted to see her in it (mum making all the dresses and this is the first one nearly complete). on the plus side I am off to mums for christmas day and get to try on my dress with my underwear, shoes etc, plus get to see the bridesmaids dress. having a bit of a wobble re: my dress so hopefully I'll fall in love again, I just need to spend time alone with it (hope this doesnt make me seem weird!!!).

Currently sitting with a glass of mulled wine trying to hand draw a map for the invites as we want them to go out by 15th January... oh and have made a list of stuff to hunt down in the January sales, I think boxing day will be spent on the net! Apparently the best time to but will be between boxing day and when the VAT goes up in January.

FYI Primark have dark cream coloured fake fur type scarf/shrug things in stock at the mo if anyone needs? (I am in a draughty barn so def needed!) and have just ordered a chapel length veil which is being custom made by a lady on ebay for £35.

Ha ha magicboo, the lack of manicure facilities the day before my wedding is a bit of a nightmare. To cut a long story short... I am an archaoeologist, therefore will definitley need one! The only option for me is to have it done on the 28th and not do any physical setting up on the day before my wedding... Have to decorate an empty barn and H2B definitely not up to the job as no sense of what looks 'nice'. It will take a good few hours to get into the nearest big town where I guess places like debenhams will be open. Fortunately florists are friends of my H2B so she will open up briefly on the 29th to sort our venue flowers out. Have heard horror storiesd of suppliers just annoucing they will not be supplying on the 29th, one bride complained on another forum that her bouquets and buttonholes will be delivered the day before her wedding. nightmare!

the stars sound amazing, am sure you will find something for them!
