Passport Costs To Increase In October - Renew NOW !

Just wondering, when I renew my passport, do I have to send my old one off?
My current passport has loads of stamps in it from when I travelled around the world on my GAP year. There is no way I want to send that off and have it destroyed!

Postal Fast Track Premium
Adult £66 (£51) £91 (£77.50) £108 (£96.50)
Child £45 (£34) £80 (£70) £93 (£83)
Jumbo £77 (£62.50) £97 (£87) £114.50 (£104.50)
My question is : price for "Jumbo"? Do they get many elephants travelling abroad these days?! (Or is it a seperate price for overweight or tall people?!)
Regards
Confused of Worcester
I assume Jumbo is the rather strange name for a passport with extra pages suitable for those who travel abroad a lot. I know my brother has one of these and he is neither overweight nor tall

Afraid so Morpheus.
They used to return them to you with the corner cut off to show that they had been invalidated, but I don't know what the procedure is now.0 -
hi,
my passport runs out in 2009. my question is - what with passport renewal going up by 60 something pounds later this month, is it worth me renewing my passpoart now? can i even renew my passport now which has another few years on it?
thanks0 -

So now I am confused about when you can renew as this contradicts other peoples experiences!
Need to renew OH's passport and as we're going away at the end of September want to do it ASAP, but don't want to end up passportless
Thanks,
Rach
You can renew any time you want, even if your passport had 9 years to run!
It really means that if you renew in the 9 months prior to your old passport expiring, you will not lose any of the validity of that passport as your new passport will be dated such that it gives you 10 years plus up to 9 months. If you renewed 11 months early you would lose 2 months.0 -
I believe you can renew it now but it won't get a full 10 years on it. I think it will still run out in 2009. Personally I don't think its worth it to renew now as you won't be any better off.

Thanks Jem - that was what I thought, but I think I was confusing myself!!
Am not too worried about losing a couple of months of validity, so think I will renew now!0 -

My son got a new passport last month. They cut the corner off the from cover so your stamps should be OK.0
