What a pompous reply,
I think the poster was trying to say life is too short, yes of course these things matterto you but there will be far worse things that will probably happen to you (i hope not but life sucks) so just learn a lifes lesson as we all have had to do, claim on your insurance and move on.
Good luck to you.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
His home insurance may cover it if he can't.
Claim on his insurance, not your's.0 -
so in theory the car would cost £1k to repair
1 years no claims is worth £700
if you claim the insurance will increase by an unkown amount
but if you have the car repaired yourself and the dog owners skint
your down by £1k anyway.0 -
Pretty sure you only have to report to police if you don't stop and exchange details
OP........It's just an ordinary accident, get quotes and talk to dog owner, if he won't pay or pass you on to his insurance company then go down the small claims court route. You can do it online and the cost will be £100 for up to £5k but low income people get exemption from the fees so it could well cost you nothing.
Hopefully the owner will just pay up.
Thanks for the info, i might maybe contact citizens advice or something.0 -
Ignore the trolls. Just look at the username of one!!! There are sadly many people who seem to place the welfare of animals over and above everything else. They're often the people who call themselves mum or dad to their pets. I know a few of these types and you should see their faces when they talking about insurance or vets bills if you tell them tha surely it would just be cheaper to put the old one to sleep and buy a new one. How many retired greyhounds could you get for the cost of your repair?0

It wasn't pompous at all. I care about my car... A lot, if you ask anyone i know, they would tell you. I myself am an animal lover, and i felt bloody awful when it happened.0 -

Excuse me? Who are you to decide whether i care or not? I was in a wreck when it happened, but the fact of the matter is, is that the dog owner is at fault possibly under The Dog Control act, and i'm being left to pay for it.
Why shouldn't i be on the road? Would love to know.0 -

Haha, i know exactly what you mean about that, this accident could have easily been a lot worse, as it happens, it was 8 in the morning so the road was clear on the other side, the car behind me had to swerve around me with a bus coming the other way, luckily the bus was quite a way off.0 -

What if it had been a pregnant mother, pushing a child, while walking a dog.
Could you have stopped then?
At night
With no lights.
And your eyes shut?0
