OP...there are more important things in the world than your silly bit of dented metal.
It's not the OP's fault that a Dog ran out in front of him, and yes you could argue you should do a speed that lets you stop if you need to but if you follow that you literally can't do over 5 MPH on a public road...
I've been shouted at before for driving "too fast" down a road because I might of hit one of their dogs (was doing 15 at the time). Their dogs weren't on leads and were walking down the middle of the road! What exactly did they expect to happen?Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
With sensible insurance prices, maybe not. But for an 18 year old a years NCB can be worth £400...
EDIT - "just because there is a 60mph limit on a road, doesnt mean you have to drive at 60pmh" - does this imply you therefore never do the posted sped limit?
I know exactly what it means... As it happens... The conditions permitted me driving at 60Mph... Hence me doing so.
EDIT: some nice pictures you have Jackg0 -
I would just double check it though. Call centre staff (and I speak from personal experience on both sides of the phone) tend to say what they think the customer wants to hear if they are unsure of the answer to a question. Running two quotes through a comparison site or your current insureres website shouldn't take more than 5 mins and then you'll know either way.0

Like our fellow creatures.
I'll post where and when i want.
Maybe you could grow up and face your responsibilities; today you killed a dog because you were driving so fast when it ran out in front of you....would you have been able to stop had it been a child?

I'm not claiming through my insurance! It's as simple as that.
If anything, i'm not bumping up the statistics that apparently suggest young male drivers being more dangerous than any other. It's a complete joke, i'm not sure of your gender, if you're female, you might not be aware.0 -
In my car, at 18 with a license for a year.
1 Years NCB - £1,511.45
0 YearS NCB, one £500 accident - £2,132.50
Both quotes run through Confused with Quinn being the cheapest...Maybe you could grow up and face your responsibilities; today you killed a dog because you were driving so fast when it ran out in front of you....would you have been able to stop had it been a child?
You drive at a speed to react to what could happen - but to *always* be able to react to that situation means you would never be able to travel at over 5 MPH - and even then you'd be pushing it!Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
Am i right in thinking that all dogs which are hit by traffic and killed still have to be reported to the police by law,
I know it used to be the case.
Pretty sure you only have to report to police if you don't stop and exchange details
OP........It's just an ordinary accident, get quotes and talk to dog owner, if he won't pay or pass you on to his insurance company then go down the small claims court route. You can do it online and the cost will be £100 for up to £5k but low income people get exemption from the fees so it could well cost you nothing.
Hopefully the owner will just pay up.0 -

Excuse me? I have grown up quite enough. So what? I'm expected to drive down roads at 5mph "Just incase something happens"? The fact of the matter is... The dog shouldn't have been near a 60Mph road... That's the end of the story. Yes, there are more important things... But my car isn't just dented, Genius. As it happens there is £1500 worth of damage.
No, i wouldn't have been able to stop if it was a child, maybe if you knew the road you would understand? Or maybe not, because you seem to be so incompetent that it may be beyond your mental capacity. So you grow up, and i suggest that you drop your frankly disgusting attitude to young drivers. You're a disgrace to yourself.0 -
I know what was bothering me about those photos! the car was remarkably clean! no blood or tissue - which i would not expect. how long after the accident were they taken?
The photos are dated 03/08/10
I would suggest photos were taken shortly after the accident or the bonnet would be rusty where paint has flaked off."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
