I Hit A Dog With My Car - Advice On Court Action

Perhaps the owner should get advanced dog handling training instead?
He doesn't need it now though does he  Ok, i must smack my own wrist on that one as thats a little harsh of mesorry.
But i am of the train of thought that no matter what dog you have or how likely they are to slip the lead, they are still your own responsibility if something like this happens. The road was simply no place for a dog - i am confused at why so many people have gone all guns blazing at the OP.
Sadly it's true that the younger you are the more insurance costs due to the stigma of boy racer - sadly here where i live it's the older the driver is you need to be aware. We often hear of older (and i mean 70+) drivers hitting people and just recently a whole shop front was taken out (luckily no people near the window at the time) due to the driver having hit the accelerator instead of the brake. It's true it can happen to anyone but it is kind of swings and roundabouts. My OH has to pay a ridiculously high premium due to recently passing and still being under 25...trust me with a young child and one on the way, he is the most cautious driver i know as he knows our lives are in his hand at the end of the day
Personally i think a just passed driver is more cautious and aware thus usually making a more alert driver whilst moving at speed -new drivers tend to knock kerbs, reverse into lamposts or that type of thing due to not being completely used to their vehicle dimensions, not usually endangering lives.
But then on the other side, there are some annoying boy racers that think they own the road, and i have seen some women doing things like applying makeup or too bothered with checking their reflection to look where they are going. It's amazing what you see on the road sometimes!Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -

Nope, that money never materialised. I'm thinking about calling him some time and see what he says
Just thought if nothing it it will at least mean you're a bit less out of pocket.
As for all the what if comments you got well how about what if the dog had slipped the collar and attacked a child would you really not be blaming the dog owner!0 -

Haha... This is a good point. I'm not too fussed about what some people wrote to be honest. If they want to live in La la land, i'll let them. It's them that look stupid at the end of the day :P0
