Do you have a theme / colour scheme / price range?
    What's your venue like?

    Wine/Burgundy colours
Butterflies theme (ish - not too overboard)
Price range - cheap as poss! - Not really more than £50
Venue is nice - It is the Belstead Brook Hotel in Ipswich - Type it in google & you will get some nice pics etc. come up!

The Gerbera in a goldfish bowl is a popular idea these days - fairly cheap & they come in a burgandy colour.

Or maybe a mirror plate with butterfly confetti & burgundy baubles?

I'm going to go to one of the departments stores and get them to do my make up, buy what they suggest and see if anyone is free that day :D It's got to be worth a try, although there is someone in manchester that seems awesome!

Thank you KDR, we've moved but our stuff hasn't! The removal guys didn't turn up on Thursday, probably a good job as the flat is part furnished which we didn't know about. We've got to arrange it all again for one tuesday and sort out storage. I've not had time to think about the wedding and I don't know where I'm up to with any of it, I probably couldn't tell you when I'm getting married as I'm so stressed and worn out - we're living/working over 4 floors and all those stairs are knackering, I'm thinking I shold be able to start running up/down them by next month so at least I'lll be fit for the wedding, although us not being able to cook anything or have time to eat will probably ensure I don't gain anything :rotfl: My mum brought me a quiche this morning as she didn't know how we were fixed.
It's fairly quiet today so I should be able to get a to do list done and make a start on getting back on track, my mum reminded me there are about 20 weeks to go! 1) Need to make OH go suit shopping :D

    hi everyone!
so i dont know if youve been reading the other threads but ive come across a big stress point even though the weddings over 2 years away!!
i checked my passport, it expires the day after were due to come back off honeymoon
im too scared to go with that one(and probably wont be allowed to use that one) so i want to change it but i have to wait til after we get married as were going to the US who dont allow you to enter with a postdated passport!
im going to have to go to the passport office which is an hour away to get a new one as i dont want my maiden name on it for the next ten years
ive done this before for my son but i was sooo nervous the whole time thinking have i got everything they need as its a hell of a way to go!

    its alright im breathing now!
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

I've got a similar issue - mine expires 2 weeks before our wedding.
I've been looking into it all (see my other thread)
FYI, for the USA: Passport must valid for at least 90 days from date of entry into the United States

You can get a passport with your new name on it 3 months before you get married (although you won't be able to leave the country with it till after your wedding)
Just make sure you book the honeymoon in your new name, and if in doubt, ask the embassy.

thanks rainbow but they dont allow post dated passports to be used on the ESTA form so theres no point in getting one before unless i use my maiden name for ten years which i really dont want to do!

What do you mean by post dated?
EDIT - just read the other thread - I see what you mean.

    Can I join in here?

I'm a bride to be, originally pegged at Dec 2011 but I would like to do it sooner as weddings are getting more expensive and of course I want to be married to my boyfriend! We've been engaged since November last year and he says there is no rush (hmm) as we need to sort out finances but we a) don't have a lot to pay off (£1000-£2000) and b) want a very low key, low budget wedding anyhow.

I don't know if anyone has any experience or knowledge here of small, intimate weddings for say 10-20 people and venues that cater for that. We're looking at a civil ceremony (boyfriend is not religious) and then a reception/party with a buffet rather than a sit down meal (too formal). I should imagine we'd have the wedding around 4pm, have a small buffet/canape selection with drinks, have some photos taken and then a bigger buffet in the evening.

We'd like to do everything ourselves if possible (rather than hiring a wedding co-ordinator) and I guess budget is below £3k. The theme would be sort of vintage garden party if there is such a thing! Bunting, that sort of thing :)

I will follow this thread to get ideas if that's okay! xxx

hay silentsmile of course its ok and welcomex
this board is fab for ideas, notjust this thread but your style of party has been discussed elsewhere too
have you got any restaurants nearyou that could put you up and let you decorate?
other than that there are lots of big venues which have an array of different room sizes to accomodate different amounts of guests
ill have a look fore some more info for you in the morning xx

for those who dont know what post dated passports are....
you can apply for a new passport(if you want your new name on it) upto three months before you get married, it will not be valid until after the ceremony though but its great for those who are hopping off on honeymoon straight after the wedding ASLONG as you are not going to a restricted destination because some countries do not accept them for visas and, in the case of the US, ESTA's, just check with the consulate whether they will accept one or not
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p
