In exactly 1 year (almost to the minute) I will married :j
Going to view the venue with my parents next week to have a real feel for how the gardens will look on the big day. Can't wait - my parents haven't had a chance to see it yet as they live in Wales & dad hasn't been able to travel down till recently because of a knee op.
Hopefully mum will help me come up with various ideas to suit the place :)

I suppose I should start thinking about booking other things.

Still only booked the venue, pencilled in the registrar & made an appointment to give notice of marriage.

For those that have sent "save the date" notes out (before invites), when did you send them? I'd like to give people the opportunity to book a cheap travel lodge in advance etc.

I have spent today creating my own todo list on a spreadsheet, I love it, I have one column of what there is, church, hotel, evening then the next column has things like hyms, and timings and then further along I can put a date at the top for when things need doing and can also update it when things are done. All the todo lists that are online where a bit unnecessary and didn't have the bits and pieces I wanted in them so it stops everything from being in my head.
I'm really pleased with it :rotfl:

Ooh, I should really make some sort of list / spreadsheet, if only to keep track of various ideas I've had about stuff (some thanks to you guys).
That way, when it's time to actually get stuff organised, I'll have a selction of ideas!

I have to keep re organising my favourites folder - I've a wedding folder with sub folder! I can send you mine but it's nothing fancy I've just written down everything I need

I didn't send save the date cards but I think around 12 months is usual, for people coming far away needing to book accomadation etc x

ohwa! im to-ing and fro-ing between artificial flowers so i can keep them forever or real so i can smell them, i suppose i could spray them with a fave perfume or calming scent!

No Bubbles I didn't. It is/was a Hollywood dreams gown I believe. Totally forgot the picture was there until I was faffing with my profile. Won't take credit for something I haven't produced which is why I removed it and the use of a photograph is subject to copyright if you don't have permission! The replacement is mine however. The rigmarole I have to go through each time I want to post an image on my website if the picture isn't mine can be horrendous.
  • I'm in meltdown. Added up some rough costings, being mse with things and still coming out at nigh on 11k, excluding wedding cars and on basis of getting my dress online from china etc. I just can't justify that on one day! I don't earn enough to even save up for that amount! Can I un-invite my bridesmaids? There are 8...all close family and friends..Do I need an usher? Do I have to pay for my bridesmaids hair and make-up?! Running away and getting it over and done with is far too tempting!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

Trying to find a work life balance...:rotfl:

When is it you are getting married? Could you do another thread with what you're having and what it's costing, maybe someone can suggest alternatives?
8 bridesmaids sounds a bit excessive, how many are you having to the wedding? Could they pay their own way? You don't need ushers, don't think we're having any.

I have finally got my phone lead, can someone let me know what they think of my dress...

My bridesmaids are doing their own/each others make up, and we've got a hairdresser lady coming in whose son is in my mums class at school who is asking £30 for an hour and she's going to help them with their hair. 8 does sound a LOT - how formal is the day going to be? Try Asos for bridesmaids dresses which are a bit more modern and relaxed - I don't know what you're thinking of in terms of colours/lengths so here's a real mix almost all under £50 each, a few at £65, some as low as £20.

Sorry for the dress spam, hopefully it will help you see there are options if you want all the bridesmaids but don't want to do the crazy dress shop prices. Can I just say I don't work for ASOS, I just think they offer great value for money.

As for ushers, if you want them have them, but they don't have to all match. If you're having shorter bridesmaids dresses and a bit of a more informal feel then just ask them all to wear a black suit and white shirt and get them matching ties. Always remember you will be the only one noticing 90% of the little details, others will enjoy them but not nessisarily take them in!
