gemm just wait for another year, you have the rest of your married lives to save for the house!
id like to do it now too but want the same as you!
ive done the table plan..it took me two hours on word processor which probably would have took two mins with pen and paper...glad its done now though!
its a bit strange to do it wondering who will still be here in over two years time though
So you think do it in 2011 and put off the house savings? We've already lost our ideal property, I guess that's what has promoted the re-think. We can save £400 a month without any house savings, plus my parents are giving us some money... should give us about £7k to play with.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
We went with just wanting to be married, and picked our date and fitted our budget to that date. Plus you may well find the wedding guests help towards the house deposit and everything gets done quicker.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -
i would get married first gemm as i dont know if id be in a postion to save again for our big day
household bills/mortgage could take up your earnings not leaving you much left over
if you want the big fairytale then save for that first
your ideal home is out there somewhere dont worry maybe it was a sign to put off house buying!
and anyway i would regret not having a fairytale wedding and resent the bloomin house:rotfl:
monkey where are you going?
im looking to going to LA
i did want to go back to NY then onto LA and vegas but itll be far too dear to do it all in one go plus i couldnt leave the kids for that longI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works here... We did it the other way round. We bought our first home last December and are getting married next year. We're still having the fairytale and we also have the house of our dreams. Prices in our area have just started rising again - there's a house opposite us that's just had an offer accepted for 10% more than we paid for ours. If we'd held on and done the wedding first, I think I would have resented the wedding for making us have to settle for second best with our home.
Of course everyone is different, and I can see reasons for doing it each way. The way we did it worked out for us, but wouldn't necessarily be best for everyone.
Incidentally, after we moved, we could have brought the wedding forward a year (parents are offering £5,000 to the wedding) but have chosen not to. I do regret that at times...Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0 -
