hi everyone i havent got much to tell you only that my first standing order payment has been made to the wedding fund albeit only £25 but i want to get christmas and DS's birthday on the 22nd out of the way first, this is the minimal amount allowd for the type of account ive got then its uptp £250/month which gives a good interest after a year but it isnt enough so wil have to find another high interest for the rest i need to save! in april ill bung it in an ISA to get it tax free
hows everyone elses coming along?I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Paying the 50% food drink & venue deposit in 10 days, eek!
Seen my dress maker, the plan sounds ace, I' really excited about it. Going to go shopping for pretty materials & sundries with her soon, wee!0 -
We have found a venue that does not have a wedding licence but that is part of a large estate owned by the National Trust. As we are having a Humanist ceremony but want a nice 'weddingy' venue this may be perfect. At the moment the venue hire for the day is £300, which is a bit better than the £3k+ we have been quoted from others!
We're hoping we can go to see it next week, so fingers crossed....
In terms of saving, we have both been working really hard to pay off debt so the saving can start in the New Year. We should be able to put away £250pm, but I have not been as organised as Bubbles and haven't even glanced at savings accounts yet! That'll be January's main task then.
Ooh, Rainbow, I'm quite jealous of your shopping trip! I'm like a kid in a candy shop in haberdasheries and fabric shops - I'm having to ban myself from them until our budget is finalised, or half the budget would go on bits 'n' bobs :rotfl:Marrying my lovely man on 1st September 2012

Wow! The chat has gone quiet!
So I thought I would resurrect it - I've lost the dressmakers details that I was given when I bought my dress: I can't get hold of the shop (not answering the phone or emails) and I need a dressmaker for alterations. Can anyone recommend one in the North Manchester area OR at a push in Cambridge area?If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
hiya joho et all yeah it has gone really quiet! sorry i cant recommend any im not from those areas
white sapphire the best interest at the mo is the post office but if you can lock it away for at least a year put it into an ISA to get it tax free, for full explanations of the best savings plan for you click on martins savings link at the top of the page
ive got a photog dillema!
after trawling and trawling for £500 and under ive whittled it down to a few i like but now a neighbour has thrown a spanner in by saying her semi retired photographer husband only charges £1.50/ 6*4 print, not for his time and only travel expenses
this is fantastic! we did only want a cd of the pics but this way i can have an album and scan my own to get larger prints(i think ill have to ask about copyright)
but hes on his own and doesnt have a back up if something were to happen to him-touch wood- it doesnt!
i dont know what to do now!I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
Back again! Happy this time! I have found a dressmaker and am off to visit her this weekend.
Also, I had bought my BM (who lives in Germany) a size 10 Coast Symphony maxi dress in a sale (along with 2 others for other BMs). But she couldn't get it zipped up over her boobs. So I needed to get her a 12. Searched everywhere and posted on various forums, but it was worse than trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack!
They actually didn't exist ....... OR SO IT SEEMED!
She was killing time in a department store 250km away from her home and found a size 12 and was able to try it on and has bought it! Woohoo! One happier BM. One very happy Bride! :jIf you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
wow thats really lucky a?
im trying to find BM dresses second hand but theyr either not the right sizing combo or not the right style or not enough of them!
or im looking at nice 'going out dresses' on the high st/internet stores but i cant find my colour
if i get desperate this time next year i will be on the 'find my dress' thread!
its really annoying it being so far away, if it was this time next year id be doing loads but i keep thinking ill change my mind by then so need to hold off buying anything
but on the other hand i want to get bargains along the way incase theyr dearer next year
my wedding ring has already gone upI am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
I remember feeling like our wedding was a long long way off. It's 100 days today!
I'm in two minds as to whether we took the right approach to planning the wedding. We've had most things booked / decided for quite a while now and whilst it's good to know we've got all the suppliers we wanted, and we have less stress, I can't help but feel that I might be a little bit more excited if I still had things to do!!!!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0
