But if you brought say four, five, six of just the item, paid and then went for your DTD, then I would feel quite dishonest - also agree Tesco are not angels - I guess what I am trying to say is I can see they might not honour DTD if its blatantly obvious the customer would not of missed the overcharge at the checkout.
Yep, agreed, to be honest, it would be kind of daft to just buy lots of something very obviously mispriced because even if you were comfortable with going to CS for your refund you would be drawing attention to yourself and alienating the staff against you.
Although honestly, I did once buy lots of one item, was overcharged and genuinely didn't notice when I paid by card, but I felt a right idiot going to CS (I think they could tell I had genuinely not seen the mistake though, I was soooo embarrassed). I honestly just hadn't been paying attention (someone was talking to me, lol)If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!0 -

Its not scamming, its the fee Tesco pays me for pointing out their pricing issues.
Hehe I suppose you could offer it as a service0 -

Yeah, I would of felt embarrased :-) although the flipside of all this is I am sure we have all been SO angry at Tesco once or twice before - kinda makes you want to load your trolley with misprices then :-)0 -

Tesco have made me very angry very many times... if there was a viable option in my area I would never set foot through their doors again. As it is, if I spot a DTD opportunity when I'm shopping, I take it (although only enough for personal use... I wouldn't take stuff to sell on, for example). If I didn't get something back every now and then from them I would go out of my way to shop elsewhere (and buy fuel elsewhere) so they would lose out overall as they get far too much of my family's money! If a post is helpful to you, please take a second to click "thanks", it makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!0 -

They might not, in fact a lot of CS staff try to wriggle out of paying it wherever possible.
The fact is that they should, a quick call to Tesco towers usually sorts the problem out, always ask if you can use the phone on the CS desk to phone head office to check that the DtD doesnt apply to *insert lame excuse from cs staff here* most of the times I've asked to use the phone to call head office they change their tune with a quick "We''l do it this once as a goodwill gesture" :rotfl:
Read the board behind the CS desk or the smaller signs by the checkouts and you will see there are no exclusions to the policy - It simply says if you are charged more than the price shown then you get DtD
I've heard them all over the years..
"Oh that doesnt apply to non-food items"
"Oh that only applies to non-food items"
"We have a bulk buy policy of two items so can only give you DtD/R&R on two and you will have to pay the full price on the other 10 items"
"It doesnt apply to out of date labels"
"That only applies at weekends"
"That only applies on items under £5"
The list goes on, ALL of the above excuses are just that, excuses and the call to HO will usually put pay to any Hitler-like CS staff.
Dont ever feel embarassed and dont let the CS staff make you feel like you should be embarassed, remember that it was Tesco that put the policy in place to protect them from trading standards. The policy used to be a full refund and you got to keep the product (R&R) but they got hammered for a few thousand Xbox360s because of their incompetence at getting their promotional materials right and their slack atitude to changing shelf labels, they seemed to get their act together after R&R bit the dust and got replaced by DtD.
They seem to be slipping of late though, its only a matter of time before the inevitable "Biggie" on a high value item.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Well i've had my say and expressed my opinion, maybe from a supermarkets perspective.
I may apoligise for maybe being a slight bit rude in my first post, calling people pathetic, but it did make my blood boil that people were exploiting the loophole ( heading straight down to there local Tesco just to earn a quick £30 ).
I enjoy lurking and reading posts on this forum so I will stay on this forum despite a poster above suggesting this place may not be for me :beer:0 -

I actually did to the manager of the Lunsford park store near Maidstone when he decided to ban me from the store for repeated R&Rs on consecutive days, I went along and had a meeting with him and offered my service as "Pricing integrity officer"
He didnt take me up on the offer though for some reason!
He did overturn the ban though so I treated him to pointing out a pricing error on fillet joints of beef by taking a couple off his hands! lolMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

Thank you for the advice - should I ever need to claim DTD then I will certainly have to try and keep a straight face when I hear those excuses! :-)
I would still not go in and grab up loads of what was mispriced though - just me, for example in this instance I would go and buy one of the £14 item to use myself, I would not feel comfortable filling a trolley, with sole intent to walk out with a handful of cash, but that's me.0 -
