The supermarket offer goods for sale and use various marketing techniques to persuade shoppers to buy more......... unfortunately they get the price wrong and the shopper gets a genuine bargain .......

The supermarket offers DTD ....... but don't want anyone to claim it? so why do it .......oh ye another marketing trick

I didn't know people were so worse off in life that they had to go and scam a supermarket. Pathetic people.

There is no need at all to be so rude - its not a scam, its customers standing up for their rights when supermarkets try to con them.

Perhaps this forum is not for you!

Whilst I think Craig2108's original comment was a little rude - I can see it from the other angle - why would anyone diligently hand over £14 for a product priced at £3.25 on the shelf only to turn up at Customer Services for their DTD?* If you geniunly went to buy this product you would surely not hand over your £14 in the first place?

*assuming I have the info correct and you have to pay first before getting you DTD??

But if you have a load of shopping too you can't possibly know how much your total spend should be until you stop and study the receipt (unless you're a maths genius or use a calculator as you go along).
Also I'm guilty of having paid on card without paying any attention to what the total amount was... bad, I know, but at least I check my receipt before I leave the store!

I would buy it because I know its mis-priced and Tescos would be paying me to take it off their hands.

Its not scamming, its the fee Tesco pays me for pointing out their pricing issues.

Work seems to be good of late too! ;)

Ha! I love this chat - Craig.. I bet you secretly just wished you had done this yourself before they pulled the offer. Pluschris - agreed 100%, your post did make me giggle.

Craig, you said it yourself, everyone is entitled to opinions - you have yours, we have ours. We're happy, you're not...Nuff said.

Ok, true, I agree assuming you have brought a fair bit of shopping and one missed priced item (or more of the item on a bigger spend in ratio)
But if you brought say four, five, six of just the item, paid and then went for your DTD, then I would feel quite dishonest - also agree Tesco are not angels - I guess what I am trying to say is I can see they might not honour DTD if its blatantly obvious the customer would not of missed the overcharge at the checkout.

People are actually scamming supermarkets on here, and don't people on here realise that there could be a knock on effect when people are scamming Tesco out of this money.
Staff workers could lose there jobs due to loss of profit of the company.

I did chortle when i read that. Tesco boasts a £1 billion profit PER WEEK and an annual profit of over £3 billion for 2009 despite the global downturn... I will go out on a limb here and say that the chance of workers losing their jobs due to a loss of profit (caused by a few thrifty MSE'ers) is slim to none. I find it laughable that you are that naive!

Also, Tesco make an unbelievable amount of profit on items that they overcharge customers on, which most customers are completely oblivious to. The proof in the pudding there is that their own refund policy that used to be..

"In the unlikely event you are charged a higher price than on the shelf or the product we will refund your money and you can keep the product."

.. which had to be changed as they found out they overcharged a LOT of the time and their own policy was proving to be not so beneficial to them and so they changed to Double the Difference. Protecting their own backside there, rather than just ensuring they dont overcharge customers, who would then not be able to use the policy!

"Scamming".. definetly not. Exploiting a loophole, maybe! ;)
    I LOVE MSE! :money:
