Hi Talko, it is £10500 net and we get £150 per month WTC going down to £70.

2 children and £95 childcare costs.

    Mortgage £299 per month
    Life insurance £30 per month
    house insurance £25 per month
  • Hi

Sorry to be a pain, but is there any chance you could give me a rough idea of whether I should be able to claim?
My husband's income is £23000 gross pa, around £21000 net. We pay £610 pcm mortgage, £110 in Council Tax, £56 pcm Life Insurance, have 2 children and will be paying about £240 a week in Childcare.
    Thanks!

taiko - Thats interesting, so in theory if we were to get a bigger mortgage etc, then we would be entitled to something? How strange!

In reality, if you were paying more off your mortgage each month, you'd get more support.

I'll do the other calculations start of next week. I've done ~600 miles of driving in less than 48 hours, bit shattered >.<

Entitlement in this case is to Adult Dependents Grant, PLA and Childcare. ADG isn't at the full amount, but you'll get full childcare and PLA

Ok for Childcare and PLA, no entitlement to ADG

Taiko, I was wondering if you could verify if this is true or not. A co-student of mine was speaking to SFE querying what seemed to be a shortfall in her CCG as she'd been told she'd got the 85% (not exceeding £255 p/w). She was told that you get 85% for first child only and 75% for second. I have 2 children in the same nursery so same fees etc so am very interested to hear this as I've never seen anything about it before! Any ideas?
    Cheers

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

    Lifted from Childcare guidance documents:

    Amounts of Childcare Grant

    1. The Childcare Grant pays 85% of the actual cost of registered or approved childcare throughout the academic year, i.e. during term time, short vacations and the longest vacation. The maximum amounts of Childcare Grant payable are as follows.
§ For one dependent child, 85% of the actual cost of registered or approved childcare, paying up to a maximum grant of £148.75 per week (i.e. a maximum of 85% of £175 actual childcare costs). The maximum annual Childcare Grant for a student with one dependent child using childcare for the whole year is £7,735.
§ For two or more dependent children, 85% of the actual cost of registered or approved childcare, paying up to a maximum grant of £255 per week (i.e. a maximum of 85% of £300 actual childcare costs). The maximum annual Childcare Grant for a student with two or more dependent children using childcare for the whole year is £13,260.
    2. The Childcare Grant pays 85% of actual childcare costs, but the amount of weekly Childcare Grant paid should not exceed £148.75 per week for one child or £255 per week for two or more children. For example:
Number of children in registered or approved childcare
    Total weekly cost of childcare
Total amount of Childcare Grant per week
    Student A – 1 child
    £90
    £76.50
    (85% of actual childcare costs)
    Student B – 1 child
    £200
    £148.75
(as the Childcare Grant pays 85% of actual costs of up to £175 per week)
    Student C – 2 children
    £120
    £102
(85% of the actual childcare costs)
    Student D – 2 children
    £350
    £255
(as the Childcare Grant pays 85% of actual costs of up to £300 per week)

So that's wrong what SFE have said.

    Taiko,
Just wanted to say what a great job you do here and I am sorry to hear that you have also had to deal with funeral arrangements too.
Remember to take time out for yourself too:)
