Orange iPhone - want me to 'buy out' existing contract??
Comments

If you want to chop and change your phone regularly (more frequently than 18months-24months) then just buy the phone outright and have a sim only contract.
2 benefits: You can switch your provider as soon as a better deal comes along, and because you're not tied into a long term contract you can change your phone whenever you want or can afford to.
You're also aware of the true cost of the phone, or can buy nearly new for a big discount.
If you want to tie yourself in for 12 months, you can usually get cashback deals, and more inclusive minutes/texts. Not as much cashback as a full 18/24 month contract with a phone admittedly, but that's because there's less profit margin on sim only. Why pay more than you have to?0 -
All that for an iphone? Just get an ipod touch insteadand it will be so much cheaper
iPod Touch £!80-250. No monthly contract, no expensive insurance or extended warrenty package to buy because the network tells you must have it!
iPhone £180 down payment then £40ish per month for a decent tariff over 18 months = £1230 or there abouts or most people are on a 24 month = £1439ish.
Why go through all that trouble for an iPhone!0 -

Not even that much now, £140 at amazon
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-touch-Latest-version-Launched/dp/B002MRRRP0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
But it depends what you want to use it for, no good for texting on, or internetting where there's no wifi. Why pay more than you have to?0 -
Hmmm seem to be getting portrayed as someone who just wants to 'chop and change' phones day & night!!! In the 7years I've had a contract mobile, this is the first time I've wanted to change phones during the course of an existing contract so forgive me for asking the bleedin question in the first place!!!!! I was happy to pay the £300 for a new blackberry pearl when the last one flew out the window as that was my fault, no insurance etc etc but guess I'll just do the same with this. I dont want an ipod touch as I dont want to be carrying more sh*t around in my bag!!!!Can't help but spend0

Your phone does all that, at a reduced cost. I get to use BT Openzone and the Cloud with o2 on my Pre like other users of o2 do and at a reduced cost. The amount of people who scramble about to get out of contracts just because they want an iPhone0 -

People are just giving you alternatives to spending money that's all as its the whole idea of the site. An iPod touch will save you more than £300! If you do get one may i suggest you do it over the internet as you can send it back if you don't like it. An iPod touch won't take up that much space in your bag and it will be miles cheaper than what you want to do.0 -

It's just that there are an awful lot of people who think they can sign up for an 18 month contract, get a phone worth around £400 0 £500 and the six months later swap that phone for a newer shinier model at no cost to themselves, but at considerable cost to the mobile phone companies who've subsidised the cost of your 'free' phone.
All I can say is, if you've got a 'mate' at phones4u to sort you out a deal, you're still going to have the problem of an 18 month contract with 12 months left on it.
The cost of the iPhone will still be the same.0 -
