My God, updating your address with the local council here is a bit of a nightmare! So much red tape.

Firstly, I hadn't bothered since I moved in with OH as I just kept forgetting about it. Then found out that I really should update it, otherwise it will cause all sorts of problems. Fine, not a big deal.

But, to update, I had to fill in a form, get my OH to sign it, get a copy of his passport, copy of the rental agreement, copy of my Passport AND copy of my work contract! lol. All that, JUST to update my address!

Oh well, all submitted online now. Phew.

:rotfl::rotfl:haha, no. But, I was tempted to ask them if they needed a blood sample too!

I decided it was best not to p'ss off the council though.

I also found out yesterday that, if you fall pregnant and you aren't married, the father has to go to the council hall and register the unborn child, that he's the father and that he will be financially responsible for the child. A bit of a pain, but probably helps to reduce the number of 'deadbeat' dads.

I never realised just how many differences there would be between the two countries. Certain things you just expect to be the same as they make sense to you. And then you see it's done differently. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes its better and others are unfathomable! lol

Please please take the first job you are offered, whatever it is, just to get out of there. If its not brilliant at least it gives you breathing space to look for something better.
I left a full time job and got a part time cleaning job in a school for i think it was 10 hours a week, wasnt much money but at least it was something as i knew i wouldnt get Unemployment Benefit (as it was called at the time) because i had left my job voluntarily :(
Going back a few years here :o I am still doing a cleaning job now, nothing special but there always seems to be plenty of them around cos no-one wants to do them.

Thanks again guys, this thread is always so supportive. :T Sorry to hear your cat isn't well Wesker, hope he's better soon. I'm looking for pretty much anything else to go to atm job-wise as worrying about money and have a very unimpressed OH.

Pad today of £8 - £1 to Barclaycard and £7 to misc fund from clicks/survey money. My click money and some survey money is paid straight into Paypal and I'm leaving it there for now, hence the misc fund.

  • Morning all... Don't you just hate the music that some places play when you're on hold?!? I was trying to make a doctors appointment this morning and it was driving me mad - they play the same 10 second piece of music over and over again!! I was tempted to give up (Perhaps that's why they do it!)

My PaD for today is 53p

  • £10 today please to my cc. Not had any quidco money for a while  Am very much running out of 'spare' money so need to tighten the belt and watch every penny for the rest of the month! Says she who is going to London for the day this weekend and has arranged a work night out next week. :o To justify it though, 6 months ago I wouldn't have any money saved and would have to bust the credit card out.... so being on here has truly made a difference. Yes I could say No and pad the money instead but I feel less guilt having saved the money out of my wages at the beginning of the month.

The london thing is for my friend who is going off on a cruise ship for 6 months and won't cost that much as we have free entry to a couple of places, and dinner will be included in the tour of the sights (he hasn't seen any famous landmarks even though he lived there for 2 years!) and the works night out is because me and a friend are changing shift patterns at work so won't ever see the other people on our old shift so we are having a few drinks in a pub down the road.

PS clearly I feel guilty having to justify it to myself!! :rotfl:

Weskers hope your cat is soon well again

Millie is being a pain in the butt, she seems to have got into a routine of waking me up twice  during the night to go out for a wee!!! and then it takes me ages to get back to sleep!!!!
This morning she woke me at 2.15 then again at 5.30 and then as per usual 20 mins before the alarm was due to go off so I got up anyway  I've tried ignoring her but she bl00dy jumps on me and sits on my chest trying to bury her head in my neck!! :rotfl::mad: Does anyone know how to get her out of this annoying habit??? I've tried making sure she goes potty before I go to bed etc. I'm shattered!:(
