Mine is still at £1,500 :eek: and has been for last 2 years !!! I really don't know how they work it out. I'm also worried cos my youngest leaves school soon and he can't make his mind up what he wants to do so my tax credits will stop and what will happen about what I still owe them??? I can't afford to pay them it back and I really, really begrudge having to hand any of my wages over to them for their incompetence:mad::mad:
I sometimes wish I'd never bothered to apply for tax credits with all the hassle I've had.Debt @ LBM - £25,722 Debt now - £11,811 DFD - April 2012

It seems to be a bit of a mystery how they're worked out green. Heard a prog about them on R4s Moneybox recently & even the so called experts seemed to struggling when dealing with listeners' questions. The government rep for tax credits not surprisingly came seriously under fire & seemed really uncomfortable
Still doesn't help people at the sharp end though

I thought since I was getting praise, I'd update my sig
I'll be honest, without TC we'd be in such a worse off place than we are now. If someone told me 3 years ago that having kids would leave us in such a financial mess then I would have seriously re-considered. I love my babies dearly and none of our mess is their fault so I'm not blaming hem, I just think that maybe we should have been more aware of how our circumstances were going to change.
Green, some people seem to have nothing but hassle with them, we've been really really lucky with them.
DT - I've still got about 2k on cc's and a loan to pay off. The loan won't be finished until 2 months before my DD's 5th birthdaybut...we'll have a great xmas that year

angelic it's very impressive!!
Funnily enough I was talking to my mum the other day about waiting to have children until I could afford them. Her advice... A) you never have enough money for children!they don't really suffer from you not having enough money-you do
and C) some things are more important & you could risk missing out on having them. Quite blunt but I guess she's not entirely wrong lol :rotfl: I said it was a good job they'd got rid of the workhouses!

I totally agree...especially with!!
We really need a new cooker/oven - ours had been broken for about 16months or something...it's torture! I refuse to get a new one until I can walk into the shop with cash, not plastic!
Your mum isn't wrong...if we'd have waited, then we wouldn't have had the 2 that we have now...they would have been different! Although at the beginning, I wished the wee man was different to what he is, I couldn't imagine thinking that now
Everything we do is for them...aww...I'm getting all mushy...better get back to slagging people off :rotfl:Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10
