Another pad of £1 to Barclaycard today.
Still job hunting and getting a bit worried as need to have some money coming in soon. Think I will have to chase the admin bank about getting some work whilst looking for something permanent.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. I had a letter this morning from one of my credit card companies informing me of a rate change, but giving me the option of keeping the rate the same and having the account closed once I've paid it off. I rang them, as it's the card I'm trying to pay off anyway and only have £50 left to pay, and I was informed I could keep the account open and keep the rate the same. Apparently I'm one of the customers who they decided can keep the original rate?? I'm sure it's a con of some description, but I would prefer to keep it open for a bit just as a safety net, I don't have the card itself but am worried about any major emergencies as I don't really have any savings. Do you think they offered to keep my rate the same as I've paid off so much (over 2k including a BT to another card) in the last few months?Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16

Hiya guys, not been here for a long while as not been able to PAD... or do anything in fact!
OH still hasn't got a job, and doesn't appear to be looking very hard IMO! So I am at the point of near financial meltdown
I have had to cancel all the DDs for the debts, and will today be writing letters to all of them offering token payments until OH gets a job.... our budget is tight as already, and whats pushing us over the edge is the debt repayments...
I have also been moved to another store (a good thing) but the fuel bill have quadrupled ( a bad thing) which also has not helped the budgets
I am thoroughly skint (can't even afford to buy ink cartridges for my printer, so will have to hand write all the letters) and am totally depressed by the whole situation!
Ho hum!

Hi Pyscho!
I had exactly the same with my Halifax CC. When I called to close the account (whilst still repaying the balance - which is a lot more than 50! lol), they told me I could keep it open with the same rate as I was a good customer and always paid on time, usually with more than the minimum payment.
Honestly, I don't think the rate hikes, in these cases, are based on people's ratings etc. I think they just send them out to pretty much everyone and see who doesn't call, and catch them out!
Pays to call huh?!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
*cough greenlightstillonat9:31 cough*
I have been good since then though, done lots of stuff and having a lunch break now so I'm allowed!
Euro I think you are right, I'm just gonna have to let him get on with it really aren't I!
Sorry to hear things are crappy Sarah - on a practical note, do you have a local library? When my ink ran out just before my assignment had to be handed in I went down there and they let me print it out for free, about 15 pages worth, maybe yours will do the same? Although maybe the handwritten letters will help them sympathise with you

Happy Hump Day peeps!
So sorry to hear some of you are having a hard time of it
Silaqui - sorry, hun, but I agree that you need to whack his rent back up and say 'no more until you prove you're on board'. I think his LBM was a mirage, to be honest. The trouble with LBMs is that they stick better when you have to dig yourself out of the mess you're in. If it's too easy, and no personal sacrifice, you don't take it seriously and you never learn about budgeting.
Sarahneedle1872 - another guy who needs a wee buttkick huh?I do feel for you and hope for your sake that your OH finds something soon
PAD for today is £1.52 STC and £4.40 rounding down my account, so a grand total of £5.92 into savings please, sashy
I hope everyone's worlds are a lot brighter tomorrow!
Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya! Tomorrow!....er...and etc....*ahem*
