When my son once tried to cancel one of these contracts, they then wheeled the Manager out to interrogate him as to why.Talk about high pressure!I stepped in and they left him alone.0

Perhaps the sales guy was thinking to himself that this poor old granny has turned up ALONE and needs a tv since she is ALONE and has no one to talk to her / support her otherwise she wouldnt be here looking to purchase a product which replaces human contact to some form. He then thought 'my god, she can hardly afford this television and it will probably break withn 5 years, shes better off buying a warranty'.
Or hes a money grabber. In any event WHY is a 90 year old person making driving her wheelchair into an electrical store on her own to collect a television. Did she have it delivered? How much did it cost - if so wy couldtn family collect it for her to reduce cost? How did a 90 year wheelchair bound manage to get to a Comet (comet stores are usually located in retail parks - just outside towns).....why?
Where are her friends and relatives?0 -
Like most of the consumers who quote it on here then!
A little like you and your knowledge of the Licensing Act and how it deals with tomato based cooking sauces. It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

this thread makes me laugh, the lady in question choose to go into comet. She was not forced she went in through choice. she had the right to choose what she wanted to buy and did not want to buy. Comet did not knock on her door trying to sell her products. The lady did not buy a warrenty nor a insurance agreement (as comet do not sell these) but a extracare plan. If the OP is so upset about this then your friend legally has the right to cancel the plan for a full refund (as long as it has not been used) for 45 days after original day of purchase. It is no worse then shops like superdrug/boots etc putting chocolate along the queues at tills hoping children pick them up and the parents buy.
And before you ask no I do not work for Comet but trading standards!
If you really do work for trading standards then why wasnt your post constructively giving advice to the OP??
Or do people who work at trading standards prefer to give their advice in form of saracasm/!!!!!iness?0 -

When I worked in retail I once had a trading standards officer come to my shop. He was very !!!!ed he had to look at a sign knowing it would have the correct small print just to shut someone up who phoned his office 10 times a day! Like I said earlier, they're probably quite fed up of people thinking everythings illegal just because they can't get their own way!0 -

Lots of people (rightly or wrongly) get fed up with their customers, it doesnt mean that they have to be rude or unprofessional though.
If that person really does work for trading standards, I sincerely hope that they do not hold a senior position!0 -

But he's not working here it's a forum. No one knows who he is or where he comes from. I don't get why some people look at posts on here and treat it as if it's an official comment from someone as if they're working.
If everyone wrote on here as if they were representing themselves from work you'd get no opinions because no one would be able to write what they actually think just a bland corporate style response.0 -

Yeah but he's showing where his opinion is coming from rather than being an official response from one. If I remember rightly I'm sure you've said you are a solicitor? or have some sort of legal background? Surely many of your posts on here are what you think as a person. Would you be prepared to disclose your actual firm/place of work on here?0
