Hi everyone

Well I've come up for air so I thought I'd pop in and say hello. Its not been a very exciting day. I popped into town to post my great nephews birthday pressie and called at the library. On the new shelf was a book called 'sucking eggs,what your war time granny could teach you about diet, thrift and going green' So you can guess how I have spent the afternoon can't you? Its only on short loan so I only have till the weekend to read it.
I hope everyone has had a lovely sunny day too (it was so warm here I even opened a window for half an hour earlier)
Anyway I better go and sort out some food. OH won't be impressed if theres nothing to eat when he gets in.

:hello:Being a granny i thought you might like this.Didnt have much in end of last week except 4 sausages 2 onions and some tatties.
so mashed tatties sliced onions thinly chopped sausage fried off in apan .
When cooked thickened it up with gravey and covered the mash
It was georgous very tasty
In fact family want it again and its been named "nannies sausage stuff":D

My grandkids would also love that.......grandaughter would be in heaven with mashed potatoes and fried eggs on top with beans..........thank god they havn't got expensive tastes.!!

Wow.....so much to catch up with, and newbies too!

Not been on for a while due to working away at the end of last week, and was really down over the weekend. Think it was just a combination of tiredness (did a lot of driving last week for work, over 1000 miles), being quite early in the DMP, DH's job under threat, and I think it also came home to me just how much I miss my daughter and her 3 girls. They are in Germany for 3 years and this is the first year that I've not seen them on Mothers Day, used to see them most weekends and the youngest is only 3 months old so I've hardly seen her. Everyone is saying when am I going out to see them, there must be cheap flights! I just have to make excuses..........it's really hard. And all because I got us into this mess in the first place.

Sorry.... this looks a bit like war and peace..didn't mean to depress you all

Hi Nanny25k.

Hope you are feeling a bit better....Is your daughter married to a serviceman. We lived in Germany when my children were small and we didn't see parents or family for years......flights were expensive even then... Are you on Skype?.....at least you could see them and talk to them via the computer?. It's not the same I know, but better than nothing.
This bl@@dy money situation is an absolute pain.

Hi Elsie,

Yes she's married to a serviceman, not on Skype, need to look into that. We do speak on the phone regularly though which eases it a bit.

I do feel better for just having got it off my chest though thank you!

My boys ( 22 and 26) are both in the North West and we are in the South East at the moment. I know its not the same of them being in another country but I know how you feel. I felt decidedly weepy on Sunday because its the first year I haven't had at least one of my kids home on Mothers Day.
I speak to my boys twice a week but also they are on Windows Messenger so I tend to leave mine open and we can be in touch just to say hello or pass on news.
A lot of my family (which are all over the country plus N Ireland and Afganistan ) are also on Facebook which means that you can see things happening. My neices put photos of days out etc so you know where they have been and that they are OK

I know its not easy and you feel sad that they aren't with you, but little things like this make you feel a bit nearer.

Good morning everyone.:wave:

It's my day off today, so I always slow things down, leisurely coffee and breakfast.......but then I have lots to do. I am going to be changing the bedding , washing kitchen and bathroom curtains, and doing the rest of the washing whilst the weather is nice and sunny. I try to get all my jobs done so that after lunch....its ME time.!! I am going to do a bit of reading, knitting and generally have a bit of a relax.:j

Just checked online banking, and everything is okay there. Also checked my ebay items, and although I don't have any bids yet, I do have 15 watchers, so hopefully before long they will turn into bidders.:T:T
