hmmm babes, I haven't seen that many Vue cinemas with reserved places for wheelchairs, football grounds and concert halls have better access but limited places. Maybe you should contact your local council for help and advice.

vue cinema... used the card there loads of times, card still in date hun! in a nutshell they think if ur not in a wheelchair your not disbaled :(

Seems a bit of a draconian attitude to me. :(

One thing I would possibly advise though is (if you don't mind me suggesting this?), don't mention
i highly doubt a group of 12 are going to come along together!
as they could argue that an organised group, with 12 wheelchair users, were pre-booked that night.

It shouldn't matter a damn if you're in a wheelchair or not, after all, anyone could borrow a wheelchair for the night if that's all it takes. If you have an entitlement card then they should have to accept it - unless there's anything in the t&c's which clearly state they can refuse on the basis of needing a card + a wheelchair - I doubt it, but you never know what excuses they could use to fob you off.

Good luck with it, and please let us all know how you get on. :)
  • I would have asked to speak to the duty manager, definitely complain to the head office.

  • Rather than complaining to the head office, try speaking to the manager of the cinema - explain what happened and if he can't help you, he should be able to provide you with the address to write to with your complaint.

Is there a possibility that they meant that the seats were reserved for a group of wheelchair users and thier carers'?

I thought that might have been the case too. Maybe they were pre-booked or something?

In our local cinema the spaces for wheelchair users are exactly that, just a space to put a wheelchair in, no seat is actually there.

Could this be the case at yours?

That was my thoughts that they meant purely the chair space was left and not a seat itself just they worded it badly. i do hope this was the case and nothing nasty or discrimination.

    WARNING RANT BELOW!!!
i am sooo flipping annoyed! i went to the cinema with my boyfriend earlyer to watch alic in wonderland in 3d... queued for a good 20 mins, showed my CEA disabled cinema card and was told there are only 12 seats left and they are reserved for disabled users!!! i told the guy at the counter, but i AM disabled he then informed me they were all for wheel chair users and their carers! i am fumming, i have only once seen a person in a wheelchair use my local cinema!and i highly doubt a group of 12 are going to come along together! it seems im not disabled enough to sit in a disabled seat! i cant belive it, i feel discriminated against i really do! never thought i would see the day where im not disabled enough!
    rant over!
p.s any suggestions about what i can do about this?

    SEATS, read again SEATS.
OP did not mention that there were 12 wheelchair users in the queue with them, if there was they would said.

Not all wheelchair users can use SEATS, then again not all wheelchair users want to sit in their wheelchairs for a film.

It seems Vue were going OTT with the DDA, whilst also upsetting someone who clearly is disabled, had the correct card.

Perhaps the cinema is at fault with discriminating as they only made provisions for wheelchair users and not disabled people who do not use a wheelchair.
