Or what about people who are severely disabled (on oxygen 24/7 ) and who choose not to claim benefits?
    What about them?

They don't get any of the extras and even find it hard to get a blue badge sometimes. It ought to be possible to have your disability recognised without having to claim extra money.

If they feel so strongly about not wanting the extra money they could give it to charity.

Still have no idea what it's got to do with this though.

Maybe you should start a new thread for your plight for these people, who is it you know that is in this position by the way?

Make a thread for it and we can disscuss the issue :-)

What would be the point of that?

What would be the point in being severly dissabled' but refusing to claim benefits and yet then complaining when you don't have the DLA to be eligible for a cinema card or blue badge?

What's the point in any of this nonsense and who's dissability makes who worse off than who?

I made my comment to agree with Chris M that the world of disability is unfair and it refers to my husband and others in his situation.

I don't see why someone should have to apply for benefits if the money isn't essential and the process of applying would be a negative one; medical reports should be enough for a disability to be accepted when money isn't involved and all that's required is access to certain facilities.

I'm sure that both of us made these as throwaway comments; I didn't realise that I had to have my posts cleared by you before I made them!

Edit: Having just read your new thread, I can see that you've taken my idea on board. "There would need to be other methods for people to get a blue badge and recognition of their dissability for other purposes where it's necessary for non financial reasons." Well done!

I agree. And there are many people out there who are disabled who don't qualify for DLA.

And some of us don't like the idea of having to carry around our DLA award letters - I'm lucky that I only have to carry around my card that says I'm registered as partially sighted.

Seemed better to direct some debate at something remotly productive and not just negative and having a go at somebody for feeling they were uncatered for when they had a valid need.

My condition is definatly one that doesn't fall into any regular catagory but it doesn't make my needs invalid.

People like to debate and that's great but not if it's based around having a go at somebody for no real reason. As other dissabled' people or those who live with someone who is dissabled', we should be more understanding of the vastly differing needs of different dissabilities not even more judgmental.

Wow, how are you able to get around all day such a big chip on your shoulder?

That last rant and your sig is way, way, way over the top.

maybe just maybe if it wasnt for bullies and people who think its ok to bellitle people i would have such a big chip on my shoulder! as my sig says, you dont know hwat im going thru. so to you this may be nothing but to me it is something! i wasnt aware it wasnt allowed to have emotions!
so how about if your not going to write anything constuctive !!!! OFF! because frankly i get enough people judgeing me on a daily basis i do not need some horrible people who have never met me reducing me to tears!
DON'T JUDGE ME, YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH, YOU DONT KNOW WHAT I'VE FELT, OR WHAT I FEEL RIGHT NOW! SO FIND SOMETHING BETTER TO DO WITH YOUR TIME, THAN JUDGE SOMEONE YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!

AV, calm down. There are a lot of very rude people on this thread, but you need to develop a thicker skin - if you didn't know it already, there are a lot of people like that in everyday life, too. I'm so tired of dealing with them and being judged by people who know very little of my everyday life that I've put most of the ones on this forum on my 'ignore' list; saves my blood pressure! =P *gives you a virtual hug*

Back to the original point: if you have a CEA card and there were seats free in the area designated for disabled people but the counter staff wouldn't allow you to use one, then yes, I would say you should complain. If they were just already booked, that's different, and unfortunately you have no recourse in that case. Also, just so you know, you can prebook most cinemas online nowadays. I think you can do it with Vue venues as well (I know for certain you can do it with Odeon cinemas).
