To apply for the card, you will need to meet one or more of the following criteria:
    a) Be in receipt of the disability living allowance or attendance allowance.
    b) Be a registered blind person
If the OP feels hard-done-by and discriminated against because they couldn't use their CEA card, what about those like myself that *are* disabled but don't *qualify* for a CEA card? Simply because I don't receive the right benefits.

I only receive Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit and don't qualify for many of the nice perks that DLA claimants get, like a CEA card and Cold Weather Payments.

There are many levels of disability but disabled is disabled, right??

You don't get cold weather payments for being on DLA. Not sure what perks you you refer to?

You may be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment if you get Pension Credit or income-related Employment and Support Allowance with a support or work related activity component in the main phase.

You may also be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment for each qualifying week if you are getting Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance in the assessment phase and have one of the following:
    • a pensioner premium, higher pensioner premium or enhanced pensioner premium
    • a disability premium, enhanced disability premium or severe disability premium
    • a disabled child premium
    • Child Tax Credit that includes a disability or severe disability element
    • a child who is under five in the family
This is not a competition about who is more disabled than who. And no one is saying that disabled people are not allowed lives. But personally as I hate crowds I would never go to a newly released film. And I don't suffer from anything like the op does. But each to there own.

    Yours

Rubbish! The criteria for a CWP has already been stated by calley, methinks someone is telling porkies.

Do we have to word things acusationaly?

What's wrong with "You must have got that wrong there's no way for a CWP to be issued because of DLA alone so that can't be right. He must have been on other benefits that you didn't know about."

Sorry can we just quit making everything negative and having digs at eachother?
"Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?

Or what about people who are severely disabled (on oxygen 24/7, virtually housebound ) and who choose not to claim benefits?
