Tis most definately a mid life crisis thing. He seems to have reached the conclusion that once DD2 hits 16 we'll be able to leave the DDs to fend for themselves safe in the knowledge that the house will still be here when we get back. I can't see that happening. Plus his view of touring the world involves lots of off road driving whilst mine would involve museums, art galleries and people. Couldn't rent the house out because the DDs would be living in it.... but to wait until they've moved out would mean he was approaching 60... the downside of falling for an older man. I would be a tad more open minded had he not returned from a v. similar trip a little over 2 years ago.

PMSL - Has he ever visited the planet Earth? If he changes that age from 16 to 25 it might be a bit more realistic :rotfl:

Heck no. OH resides on Planet Man which is in a galaxy far removed from reality, its located within a parallell universe where houses are self cleaning and his laundry service does everything apart from dress him in the morning.

    Morning!

Yes Oh's have the most strange logic ,and they say we have none-bloomin cheek. My OH always says don't worry about the housework. I didn't, once, for two whole hours, until I realised that not worrying about the housework didn't mean he was going to let me relax and he would take up where I left off. He just meant don't worry about it-see how we differ?

Anyhow surrounded by a mountain of filthy pots, a dirty carpet and taps with water marks on them I cracked and went on a mad cleaning blitz. Men and women really should come with a manual.

'when a man says not to worry about housework, he means he is content with you both living like squatters, he does not mean you to take it easy while he makes the house look beautiful for you both'

' When a woman says 'it's fine, she means its anything but fine, and you as the man are living on borrowed time until you can guess what it is she's so annoyed about, because usually it is something you have/haven't done. If she has to tell you, there's no point because if you can't see the error of your ways, then there'll be no changing you'

Is that an accurate assessment of things?

Enjoy the sunshine and have a fab weekend :)

Tis the start of another glorious day made even more glorioius by the snores emanating from my demonic eldest teenage wanabees bedroom. Obnoxious doesn't come close to describing her behaviour yesterday. Did persuade her to vacuum her share of the hovel at which point DD2 insisted on tidying her room too. Cue the dismantling of the vac as Polly Pockets hair, handbag and shoes disappeared. Perhpas next time she'll actually tidy rather than shoving it all under the bed as Henry is rather indescriminate about the things he'll eradicate.

OH managed to attempt to be helpful whilst being infuriating. Why is it that he waits for the irnoning board to go up, the iron to get hot and me to start ironing before tellling me to leave it as he'll do it on his day off. Why would I go to the hassle of putting it all away for him to forget. Just to be uber annoying he then insisted on chuntering away from the room next door rather than sitting on the chair by the ironing board.

Had yet another barney about his trip. He's now decided not to go having asked at work for the time off. Turns out its not long enough or far enough and because I'm not going hes not going either. Bet he reminds me what hes been "forced" to give up because of me for the forseeable future.

Supposed to be taking DD1 to a charity shoot this morning but shes still asleep. I creally can't be bothered. Feel like I've been on the go non stop for weeks and I'd really like a day that doesn't require me to go anywhere in order to catch up on things and generally just relax. I'm sure I'd enjoy it once I got there but its the getting together the enthusiasm to go thats severely lacking. At least I'd have a nicer house to return to having spent most of yesterday vacuuming and tidying. Theres still far too much tat cluttering the surfaces but it is diminishing in quantity. Have a whole heap more stuff to E-bay though but am definately not in the mood for listing it although the cash would come in v. handy. There are a couple of really frivolous things I fancy which I'm studiously avoiding purchasing purely because they're not necessary and because next months pay will be wiped out by car tax, service and MOT not to mention summer holiday childcare without what gets spent on holiday.

Incidentally this years holiday has turned into yet another source of arguement. Apparently I'm not excited enough about it. I really can't win. I'm more than a bit apprehensive about spending a week away where OH divides his time between sulking, sleeping and avoiding spending time with the DDs. I'm confident the DDs and I will have a fab time regardless but in doing that I'm wondering if he'll sulk more and become more argumentative because of it. Hopefully things won't be that bad but mentally I'm preparing for the worst because that way I can't be disappointed by his behaviour. Well I can, but it won't come as much of a surprise.

Too stuffed to sleep. Had chips for lunch at 4pm rapidly followed by a stir fry at 6pm, a family sized pack of crisps at 8pm and half a Toblerone. Did I need to eat it? Heck no. But it tasted great. Wish I'd spaced it all out a little more though.

Went shooting in the end. Didn't get home until almost 5p,m by which time I was well and truly kettled. Now waiting for the hens to realise they are not nocturnal and need to go to bed and then I can collapse in a heap to recharge before tomorrow.

OH has had yet another change of mind and the trip is back on. And he claims I'm indecisive.

  • Moo, you really should have more respect for yourself and your daughters than to keep putting up with your DH childish, bullying behaviour. Do you want them to grow up and get into similar type relationships, because as much as you think they don't see/hear a lot of things you would be surprised if you knew how much they actually take in. It is not healthy and they will think that it is the norm.

    Sorry for the rant.

Thank you all! Still working my way through the logistics of life and coming up with alternatives which make things worse rather than better. OH has been trying much harder to be a nicer person lately. Downside is I'm conditioned to expect something nasty at any moment so am not making this particularly easy for him. I'm expecting the worst all the time.

Have finally managed to get my head around holiday childcare. Thanks to my parents, various hoidays, OHs shift pattern and horse riding I can get the book it in advance and pay up front childcare down to two full days and two half days at £118. Thats a heck of a lot less than the £500 I forked out the first summer I worked. Have also allowed the DDs to invite a few friends over to play during the hols which should give them something to look forward to as well as keeping them out of my hair for a few hours. In theory I need to work 192 hours over the summer which will leave my annual holiday allowance intact so that I can wangle the majority of October half term, Christmas and Feb half term off. Need to make sure I don't end up with more holiday than I can use though. That would be disasterous, but highly unlikely to happen.

Plans for today involve laundry, more laundry and yet more laundry. A spot of weeding is also required as DD2s vegetable patch is more weed than veg but has a suspicious amount of fruit lurking within the weeds. Hopefully I can prune another chunk of hedge and squeeze a few more bags of carp into the wheelie bin before it gets emptied tomorrow. I forsee another mini declutter. Also want to get rid of a few cables from the PC desk as the surface is liberally strewn with the things. Looking on the bright side I am most definately making progress albeit very slowly.

Decided I need to start doing one small thing for me each day just because I can. Besides which if I can't find five minutes to do something enjoyable its a pretty poor show. So I have been rummaging through my long abandoned craft stash thus utilising todays 5 minutes and tomorrows and quite possibly Wednesdays as well. Not only have I unearthed a whole heap of E-bayable stuff which I was given but will never ever use, I also found enough threads and aida and wot not to do this. Its not exactly as great a find as it sounds because I must have something in the region of 400 different colours of thread so it would be a pretty poor show if I couldn't find the ones I needed. I aquired the chart a fair while back along with a number of others. I've already done a few from this range. Eventually I'll persuade my dad to frame them as a set. But thats a project for several years in the future. What I'd really love to tackle is this but I really really can't justify splurging £85 for a cross stitch kit. It seems like total madness. Especially when I have so many other things to do. Still a little treat once in a while won't kill me and so I've blown £14.30 on this in a half price offer despite having spent a fortnight procrastinating over it. Daft thing is I wouldn't think twice about blowing that amount on fish and chips because I can't be bothered cooking.

  • Hi moo, thats really lovely and you deserve a treat, wish i was crafty and could do that but know i would make a right pigs ear of it. Know what you mean about spending money on things, i will um and ahh about £2 on a top in the sale in asda and then blow £12 on a crappy dvd for the kids to watch once, leave chucked on the floor and chewed up by the dog.
