Remind me never ever ever agin to volunteer to supervise small snotty children in vast open spaces. Tis my idea of living hell. Had a whistle stop tour of the animals and spent much time intricately examining the inside of each and every toilet block. One yells "I need to wee" and the next thing you know there are a dozen more whinging on and on and on about it despite having only been to the loo 15 minutes earlier. Despite that it was loads of fun and I am both sunburnt and exhausted.

At least today will be a relatively laid back day which should allow me much recuperating time although no doubt it will be spent doing housework. Seem to have hit a plummeting downhill spiral where the amount of mess generated outweighs the amount of tidying thats been achieved.

Have been inundated with a barrage of e-mails and phone calls by the boys planning their trip which OH is still undecided about going on. September next year is now a likely departure date.

Less funny more downright strange, not sure that creature counts as at times I wonder if mine's actually alive or just an unusually animated rock.....

Morning all!!!!!!!!!! Its finally Friday... not that this means I can have a lazy weekend as the DDs are riding tomorrow and up at the crak of sparrows f@rt for a charity shoot on Sunday but at least it means it will be two days until 34 assorted toilets and urinals factor into my plans for the day. Oh how I hate cleaning toilets. More than that I hate retrieving toilet rolls, bananas and other foreign objects from u-bends. Still tis only 2 weeks to the start of the hols, not that I've booked any childcare yet. Need to do that very soon, theres just the very minor issue of a bank account with £100 or so in it which is considerably less than the wodge of cash I have to hand over when booking the kids in. No doubt I will be less than popular when I do sort it all out at a date in the distant future which neatly coincides with payday. Its not like they're fully booked as bookings are depressinglly dull to the point I can see them not bothering to open on several of the days.

Still its just as well really as OHs training course has moved yet again so I'd have booked them in only to discover that he was home whilst on the days hes having them he wouldn't be here. Wish his boss would attempt to be organised. Hes changed dates three times so far and shuffling stuff around is getting a bit annoying. More than a bit actually.

Spent yesterday in a cleaning frenzy. Did shed loads of laundry, sorted it and had the DDs transport it upstairs where they appear to have lobbed it through the doorway of its repective owners room from a height of about 10 feet creating a spread pattern much like a wall to wall carpet of previously folded clothes. Managed to vac downstairs and mop all the floors much to the four legged fiends disgust as she spent a fair chunk of the morning shut in the garden. Amazed OH with my culinary talents by lobbing a couple of chicken breasts and some carrots in the slow cooker. Will be going shopping today .... or perhaps tomorrow.. as we're out of veg and fruit and just about everything else. Never did get round to shopping on Monday... or Tuesday... or... well....anyway. T'was an impromptu storecupboard challenge and a very succesful one.

    Hey Moo,

wow to the trip of lifetime ... just a couple of thoughts on that :

Sounds like the sort of thing to be done before marriage, kids mortgages & menageries, is it a midlife crisis thing ?

No way would I be left out of an adventure of those proportions ... I would be so up for Oz & back in a tin can .. just think, you could rent your house out for a year & make oodles of cash to fund it ;)

Tis most definately a mid life crisis thing. He seems to have reached the conclusion that once DD2 hits 16 we'll be able to leave the DDs to fend for themselves safe in the knowledge that the house will still be here when we get back. I can't see that happening. Plus his view of touring the world involves lots of off road driving whilst mine would involve museums, art galleries and people. Couldn't rent the house out because the DDs would be living in it.... but to wait until they've moved out would mean he was approaching 60... the downside of falling for an older man. I would be a tad more open minded had he not returned from a v. similar trip a little over 2 years ago.

Another DooYoo written and I've still not reached payout. 60 points to go... sooo close and yet sooo far away. Guess I'll be writing another one tomorrow and then I'll definately have enough points although it will be Tuesday before I'm allowed to claim my cheque. Still its almost within grasp. Just as well really as I descended upon Mr Ts like a woman possessed. I blitzed my way through the clothing sale emerging with two t-shirts for moi to replace the manky coffee stained paint splattered ones and five pairs of socks for DD1 to wear over the summer for a bargaintastic £6.50. Spied the Daily Mails assortment of £10 off vouchers so blew a whopping 50p on a totally unnescessary news paper which is languishing unread on the worktop but which did net me £9 in savings. Coupled with an assortments of bogofs and random promotions I ended up with £117 of stuff for a vaguely more sensible £95. I'm rather glad that big shops only crop up once a fortnight or so. Got a 5p off fuel coupon which saved me a further £1.50 and filled the car up v. nicely.

Off to relocate the tent to a slightly flatter part of the garden as close to the house as I can get it and then prepare for the worst nights sleep of the week as I've promised the DDs that they can camp out. Its a tight squeeze for two, it will be even tighter with two dogs so I'm taking the saintly approach and sleeping on the sofa bed with the doors open. Guaging the DDs level of excitement is proving rather difficult as they're vegged on the soaf watching Aladdin.

    Aaaaah,

I misunderstood, I thought it was a trip to Oz & back with DDs in tow .. was about to feel very envious of your rebelliousness at removing them from school & formal education for year in favour of a real life humanities experience. Something I've dreamed of for the last 9 years but which is now on hold indefinitely due lack of suitable man, money & vehicle.... Hey ho, best laid plans etc.

As to leaving teenage DDs in the house while you're away ... ARE YOU CHUFFING MAD ? I remember leaving teenage DD1 home alone with 'sensible' boyf while I attended a festival. I floated back home on the sunday all chilled & peaced out only to be greeted by the smell of gas  when I opened the front door. They'd neglected to turn the hob burner off properly.

I have now ensured that DD1 now has a far more suitable boyf in the form of a very lovely & complete safety freak fireman :D

I very nearly put a bid on a fab camper van complete with bed above the cab & mini onboard shower room but at the last minute managed to throw myself to one side & steer directly into the path of an oncoming pair of Faith platform wedges instead :rotfl:

    Enjoy our weekend

Well of course I'm not chuffing mad. The OH may well be though. At least you can understand my reluctance to accompany him. Unlike someone I can mention. Things are still on the tempestuous side here and I fear too much time together would be detrimental to whatever neutral territory we've managed to find.

I've emptied my inbox of a weeks worth of junk, completed every avialable survey and claimed £20 from Valued Opinions. Not entirely sure quite why it will take them 6 weeks to process a Paypal payment but at least thats £20 winging my way. Finally managed to rack up the extra 60 points on DooYoo so will be claiming £50 from them at the earleist opportunity.

Haven't heard a peep from the DDs since they trooped in at 5am to go to the loo. They eventually flaked out from exhaustion sometime around midnight. Puppy was asleep long before then which appeared to be some of the problem. They carted in her very smelly blanket and she promptly lay cliam tot he very middle of the tent. After a bit of persuassion she did move but only to retrieve her essential sleeping companions. This turned out to involve one flat football, several tennis balls, assorted bits of wood, part chewed plant pots and several very wet raggies. The DDs did draw the line at the mop head which had been dunked in the pond earlier in the day.

Not entirely sure how tired they'll be but am hoping they'll sleep for another hour so that they're not too exhausted to ride. Hope they're not planning to sleep out there again tonight as I've been disturbed by every noise imaginable just in case some random axe wielding mad man decided to wander into the garden and do what random strangers in horror films always seem to do. Paranoid? Oh yes.

Must remember to detour via the farm store for some chicken feed on the way back from riding.
