Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn't considered CEX .... pootles off to google...... and returns having discovered its worth even less on CEX since its outgrown kiddie tat and other assorted mass produced drivel.

Yawn. Morning all! In an alternative universe I'm packed and raring to go. However back on planet moo I've yet to pack or do anything more than roll out of bed and feed and water animals, well at least some of them. Puppy is currently wedged behind the sofa hell bent on playing with cat before breakfast. Fat chance of us making an early start although since it really doesn't matter what time we get where we're going its not as big a headache as it could have been. Its most definately a go with the flow day. The DDs have been very helpful and have packed enough clothing for a two week long arctic winter. I'm clueless as to why DD2 considers 3 pairs of knee high ski socks to be crucial considering the same child has packed six pairs of shorts but forgotten knickers or t-shirts. However she has remebered the essentials and has emptied an entire shelf into a cardboard box so that she has a slection of books to read whilst we're there.

Meanwhile the sound of thousands of angry bees which kept me awake until 11:30pm last night recommenced at 7am. Quite why the natives like to chainsaw quite so early is beyond me. It is a very annoying sound when its in short bursts going on for hours and hours and hours. Still once the other neighbours look out of their window and figure out what has been "pruned" I'd hazard a guess that the DDs vocabularly will be rapidly expanded with some quite interesting profanities.

Have done the final money shuffle of the month. CAn't shuffle any more as funds are suspicioiusly depleted which when you consider its barely a week after pay day is a very scary prospect. Seem to have been doling out cash for all sorts of trips and fundraisers for the DDs. Only good news is I've ended up with Brazil in schools World Cup sweepstake. I have £30 in cold hard cash to last for as long as humanly possible which when you consider that today will be spend at a charity gala involving at least lunch out if not dinner ... breakfast time tomorrow is perhaps a little optomistic.

Need to shop upon my return to the wilds of Wales as we're out of bread and fresh vegetables and the freezer is devoid of ice cream which apparently is the ultimate sin as far as DD2 is concerned.

Think back to school art classees. The ones with the pot plant in the middle of the room and a mere six weeks in which to capture its esence on paper for eterninty. Recall the kids who did just that and the complete no hopers whose attempts got progresively worse to the point that the green blob was unidentifiable as anything more than an abstract attempt to draw several giant mouldy peas. I was that kid. And so clearly I was the ideal candidate to spend four hours face painting unsuspecting small children for charidee. Its the most fun I've had in ages. Tons of garish coloured face paints, several sponges and lots of paint brushes... just how hard could it be? Erm... rather difficult actually especially as snotty ice cream slathered toddlers tend no to sit still. I did have lots of fun especially once I'd twigged that the local teenagers would pay more to have a St. Georges cross emblazened across their faces and in the case of one chap across his back.... did wonder (very briefly) if it was wrong to letch whilst running my fingers across the torso of a muscular 20 something chap but quickly saw the error of my ways....

I'm getting too old to go galavanting round the countryside with negligable amounts of food or sleep. Fell asleep on the sofa at 8 last night. Now feel like carp. I ache all over. Its been a very very very long weekend although one which has mademe more aware than ever than a new car is most definately required in the imminent future. It took over an hour to change my brakelightbulb. Not because I am female, nor because I am blonde beneath all the grey, but because there was so much corrosion in the light pod that I couldn't get the duff bulb out. When I did eventually manage to do it the new bulb didn't want to go in, then it couldn't make contact. Ended up scraping the inside of the connector with a screwdriver to chip away the flaky bits to get to decent metal in much the same way as a dentist removes plaque from teeth.

That done we departed on our journey in full sun with the fan set to maximum cooling. The effect was astounding, like someone had shoved a hairdryer on maximum heat in your face. Ended up doing 70 down the motorway with the windows open so as not to suffocate or succumb to heat exhaustion. Tis a v. easy way to get a pounding headache.

Had a repeat performance of this journey home although we did stop off at Decathlon in Manchester to purchase jodphurs and two or three totally unnecessary other bits in their hugely reduced winter clearance sale.

Really don't want to do anything this morning. In fact I could happily go back to sleep for another decade or so but work beckons as does an enormous amount of housework since OH has done sweet FA since our departure. Still I am used to this. It happens every single sodding time we go anywhere without him. At least this time its only 24 hours worthof abandonment and not several days worth of rancid washing up.

Took the hairballs for a swim in the river in the hopes of cooling them down and introducing the four legged fiend to new noises. They had a fab time although the house now reeks of damp dog.

Came home to find OH washing up having hung the washing out. Gobsmacked? I was too. Pottered about putting things away and generally straightening up in the hopes of finding enough floor to hoover.

Have a huge amount of cleaning to do this morning after OH decided to go to bed leaving puppy loose downstairs. She clearly wasn't happy and peed on the floor before stampeeding through it and running over the sofas and then depositing a great steaming turd on the door mat whilst howling the entire time. Shut her into puppy land where she promptly curled up and went to sleep. I spent a fun filled half hour stripping covers off sofas. Oh joy. Will be washing them today. Not quite what I had in mind.

Music Magpie labels have arrived so will get them parcelled up and posted off later. An extra 63p has tracked through Quidco too. Have written another DooYoo. Its taking an eternity now that reviews are only worth 300 points. Have reached £49. Hopefully three more to payout, two if people rate generously. Plan to cash out by the weekend and then work on Global Test Market where i seem to be stuck on 700 points. Only 10 surveys away from payout but I'm getting screened out of everything.

The co-owner of the boys toy Landrover owner phoned last night. He has itchy feet again and wants to head south for 6 months to Cape Town. A later e-mail suggests a vaguely more sensible 3 month trip round Northern Africa which would probably mean that the boys had jobs to return home to. WHilst its the opportunity of a lifetime (again) the logistics are enormous, as is the outlay. Conversations so far have involved ex-MOD trailers £500, Howling Moon Roof tents £1000 if they purchase the basic option and spares, ferries, food, fuel and just about everything else imaginable. Conservatively I doubt there will be change out of £8000. Realistically £10,000 is more likely. Still a little bit of me did hope that this would stop OH rambling on about torturing me with a year in a tin can driving to Australia and back but it seems not. Hes looking upon it as a preliminary foray, almost a recce to see what amendments need doing to make the longer version the ultimate trip. Hes apparently not decided whether hes going to go but instinct tells me he will. The very vaguest of sketchy plans puts the whole thing at October next year meaning we'll be debt free... very very very briefly if this goes ahead... The boys will miss both the DDs birthdays and Christmas but makes it more likely that they'll get the time off work as its outside the usual mad holiday season.

Not sure what I think at the mo. Its come a bit out of the blue.

Meanwhile returning to the present I've withdrawn a tenner from the free scratchcards and achieved the heady heights of 49,675 DooYoo points. Sooooo close but lacking in things to write about that are worth more than 100 points at the mo. The wonga is within sight.

Off to the zoo with 90 under 7s today. Weather looks like being reasonable so it should be a fab day. Would be even better if I didn't have to clear up after a private party of 150 adults before departing. No doubt the hall will look like a bomb site.

Spent several hours yeasterday assisting OH with project LandRover. didn't get very far. He was attempting to extract sheered hi-tensile bolts but was blunting drill bits within seconds of starting. Got one out and left a second wafer thin but firmly wedged in the axle. Need to get that out and do the same on the second axle before they can be shot blasted and the suspension rebuilt. Assuming this part of the rebuild will be at least a month away but nothing else can be safely attached until they're fitted. Pretty sure he needs lots of bolts that have yet to be ordered which will delay things further. He was vaguely mumbling about project landie being ready to take on the trip so that they could take two vehicles at double the expense which in theory would make things safer but means finding two more drivers etc. etc. Life is never ever simple. Perhas this will be the kick up the bum he needs to finally get things moving. Perhaps not.

Need to get some laundry on before departing for a day of frivolity. More importantly need to remeber to make a packed lunch for me when I make the DDs.

Why do men alway leap to the most ridiculous of conclusions?

Take the night before last as an example. Its dark outside. You say goodnight and pootle off to clean your teeth. Midway through the two minute scrubbing process required by the extortionately overpriced rechargable toothbrush recommended by the dentist you realise you've left the book you want to read downstairs and so you nip downstairs to collect it. You return to the bathroom, gargle with dentally correct mouthwash and bury under the duvet in floor length PJs to read said book. Why then would a hormonally frustrasted man appear in the aforementioned bedroom convinced that what you were actually doing is replacing the batteries in a very dusty neglected form of adult entertainment gifted for a previous birthday? More to the point why on earth would he still be sulking 24 hours later?

    Sometimes the mind boggles.
